This is International Eating Disorder Week. My daughter went around and got donations for the hospital she went to , Renfrew , which helped her come out of this horrid disorder. She wanted to give back. So she raised $400.00!! I'm so proud of her. She will be giving them a check through her medical organization. Way to go!! If there is anyone else who would like to share a story about eating disorders in your life, I'ld like to "hear" them.

Well done to your daughter for raising such an amazing amount of money!

I've never battled an eating disorder, I eat a pretty balanced diet.  But I have full sympathy for anyone who has or does - some people dismiss eating disorders as not real illnesses, which is just ridiculous.  International eating Disorder Week is a great idea to raise awareness and money.

Wow, that's amazing, f.r.o.d.o.!!

I love the documentary of HBO on anorexia and bulimia, called Thin. I watch it a lot, it's so touching.

I don't know, I've always been like the fat girl, overweight and stuff... But lately I'm watching my food and this past week I didn't eat a whole lot, because I don't have ANY appetite whatsoever. I can't say I mind much, because I absolutely don't. I wanna be thin and stuff and I don't know... I'm willing to go pretty far.

I don't think I could ever completely ban out food though. And I don't seem to have any normal gag-reflections either

I am a total yo-yo dieter and have run the gammet from total gym rat to couch potato. Its really is hard to get on a healthy balance. '  (Not too much to either extreme)

That is so great that you and your daughter raised all that money and did something so worth while.  Getting ones self on a healthy eating plan is just really hard to do, I think.

I saw that movie too. There are so many young women who are caught up with the eating disorder, whether it's too much or none at all. Everyone should watch "Thin"
A really good book is "Living with ED(Eating Disorder) and excellent book that raises lots of issues about our culture and what women have to deal with.

Congrats to you, that you do so well with a balanced diet!
Yes, I know people just think other people are trying to get attention, but it 's a whole issue of control over one's life. Most young(any) women have difficulty with a trauma in their lives , and the disorder is a coping skill to deal with this trauma. Unfortuanetly, most of the time women have been sexually assaulted or raped. It is a horror.

I know what you mean about a yo yo. I have that problem too sometimes. But now, i"m just adding on weight, and I'm sick of it. I do eat well, but in the afternoon, I loose it when I come home from work , I'm so hungry. That's when I just eat.
I am trying to excercise too. I love swimming.
Thanks, actually it was my daughter who raised the money. She is so conscious of her eating habits now.

If you want to see a film about how much we have so much pressure to look a certain way........ check out this youtube piece. Dove. inc. sponsored it and now all I buy is Dove products. They say it like it truly is...............

It's horrible, and I just saw on TV these guys who were going on first time dates with these women and the guys had nothing but criticism on the weight of these normal weight very pretty women.

It was appalling.  The media needs a definate switch in it's paradigm on what is beauty.

Amen, you have touched a really raw nerve with me about the media. It's not only Tv, but magazines, movies etc. we are surrounded by skeleton style women made to look that way .

But you know what's weird? so many people say: "Ew, look at her, she's so skinny, she's too thin!!" or "Have you seen[insert ANY celebrity here] lately? She's way too skinny"

But how is it then that people feel like skeletons are beautiful and curvy is ugly?
