Recently, a sixteen year old kid who lives in the same town I do died. His name was Chris Kobel. He was handling a gun (some say he was cleaning it while others say he was fooling around with friends.) when it went off, shooting him.
All my friends who are still in school are devastated. Surely, if I could recall whether or not I knew him (I suspect he may have been in my homeroom) I would be affected to.
But all I can think is "What kind of idiot doesn't turn on the safety?"
Really? Why don't people turn on the safety when cleaning guns? Everyone's sobbing over a tragedy, which I know could have been prevented if he had the safety on.
And in turn, that makes me think about gun control in the United States. Some people are too irresponsible or unstable to own or handle guns. But somehow they get them and then they end up hurting themselves and others, resulting in a family losing a loved one.

That is sad news but I know what you mean about the safety issue. You would think this sort of thing would deter other young people not to fool around with dangerous weapons.
