Hey  Everyone,
OKay, so, sorry if this topic is dumb, but, I need to ask questions and tell you stuff :p.
On September 2nd 2008 I start high school for the first time!. Today, I just got my schedule and found my locker(#913). Let me tell you about this school. This school I am going to is the largest school in Ontario!. It has over 1500 students!. Yeah, a lot!.
When I went to go find my locker I had to play with my lock to see how to open it and couldn't know how. So, my besties helped me and a good half hour I figured it out. Now I am so pro!.
I am all with my friends I saw my old friends form my other school.
I got to see pretty amazing people if you know what I mean. Just like one that just brights up my whole room I actually found that person on facebook! .
Anyway.,. this is my schedule.

(All Academic classes)
Period 1. French
Period 2. Canadaian Geography
Period 3.Gym.
Period 4.Lunch/Break
Period.Religion

All at least a hour something min. of class time.
I only have five min. to get things form my locker and into my class on time
My locker is like all the way down stares and way to far from my classez!

Questions:
What is it like to be in high school?
What do I do if there is drama?

I am the wrong person to ask, I was bullied in high school so hated it, but please do not let my view scare you, you have friends so will be fine I had only one friend and that didnt help till the last year.

If there is drama tell a teacher

Good luck for your first day, tell us how it went

I also didn't have the greatest time in high school until I got to age 16/17 then all was well.

However, my 13 year old son just started High School this year.  He goes to a Catholic school with about 850 kids and he after initial nerves, he seems to have settled in nicely.   Jay is pretty good academically and he plays sports, but he started this new school with only two good friends, neither of which are actually in any of his classes  .  Jay is usually fairly shy, but he has been getting in trouble occasionally for chatting too much during class ... I think he is trying to act cool by being a bit of a "class-clown". Oh well, no bullying at least - so far! *crosses fingers*

Good luck Raquel, and always confide in your parents, friends or teachers  if there is a problem at school.  Don't keep it to yourself, because there are many ppl who can help you!

Hey Raquel! I bet you're excited about school!  1500 is a lot of students - my school only has 800.  Well done at figuring out your locker - I don't have a locker any more and I have to carry my stuff around, which is rubbish!  Your classes are long, in our school each period only lasts 30 mins.

You'll be fine with running back and forward to your classes.  After all, everyone will be doing it too, and your teachers will understand.

Anyways:  Question1?  The main difference I noticed when I went to secondary school (which is about the UK equivalent of High School in America), is that the teachers don't just tell you what to do, they talk to you more.  Plus you get to know more people (at least, I did - my primary school was so small and I was the only one that went to my secondary from my primary, so I didn't know anyone to start with).  It's good to get loads of different teachers and go to different classrooms.

Question2 - if there's a drama, I would ignore it.  But if you're getting bullied or anything, or one of your friends is, tell a teacher.  But don't be nosy, lol!

Well I don't know what high school is like but I certainly loved going to school! I knew only very few people when I started going to the new school, but since it's the same for most kids that is not really something to worry about. I agree with everyone else's posts that if there is any drama you should tell someone (teachers/parents). First of all cause it helps talking about it and secondly cause they might be able to solve issues.
I miss going to (Austrian) high school and I hope you have a good start and a wonderful time!

High School always has it's up's and downs as for question 1: High School is a whole new experience with some of the old dabbled through it, it is a great opportunity to make new friends, and have a lot of fun.
Question 2: If there is Drama, handle it in a Mature Way (not to be a nay sayer but I am not a parent and was not in High School all that long ago), But telling a Teacher will get you a reputation as a snitch and in H.S that can really tarnish your rep which can make the next four years extremely difficult. The good news is is that the Drama is usually low key with that many students you'll find a clique you fit into and pretty much everyone else won't matter.:P So what school in Ontario are you going to??? I always thought Central Tech was the largest

Our classes are either 50 or 75 minutes...
We also have "just" 5 minutes to get from class to class, and it's enough. You should just get your stuff during breaks, you know. We have like 2 classes -break- 2 classes -break- 2 classes. So during those breaks I get the books I need from my locker. I think you should try that.

High school here in Holland is way different than in America, because we don't have like cheerleaders and popularity... Nobody is overly populair or impopulair... so I don't know what it's like over there

Drama... well how I always handle it: Just walk away when it's not about me and when it is about me, I just see what it's about. If it's about something I don't care, I walk away and if I do care about it, I just curse alot at the person haha and just tell them what I think about the whole situation and make myself very clear I don't want any of this anymore and then I just walk away. I usually have these kinda problems with guys and for one reason or another boys think I am going to hit them and they back off... And I'm such a little girl!! Haha no it's weird... you just got to stand your ground though... when they see you can't be messed with they'll leave you alone

It's not scary to meet new people. It's interesting, nice You can't get along with EVERYBODY, that's normal. If you find people you don't like, you can just ignore them, I mean, there's over 1500 students there... And you already know alot of people. I'd suggest you not sticking with them. I am not saying you can't hang with them anymore, but you really should get to know more people. I did stick with my old friends and I ended up with almost no friends at all and that stinks. So meet new people, don't be afraid of meeting new people, because it's nice to hang around with people you don't know. You will learn so much from them as well!!

Oh well, keep us updated

Thank you again!
The problem about drama.. is that  can never stick for myself!
Case if I do... and if this prob is form a girl.. I'll be prob ending up slapping her!. Like I really feel like if she really gets on my nerves. No, I dn't do it because it'll cause more problems.

In Canada... in this school has everything!
a dance team, cheerleaders, swimming, floor hockeY?, football, soccer, rugby, chees club, aiah!.

Plus, there is cameras everywhere!!!
These cameras are so good that they even can tell what brand of shoes you are wearing! . wow.

Yes, the first day I'll say what it was like.

Lol I always hate arguing with girls... but I don't back away if they need some serious slapping... My heart skips beats but I always stand up for myself haha. In your case I'd just ignore it, or become friends with someone like me I once had the biggest fight with this guy because he sat on my friend... she walked away and I was yelling at him and having a big fight haha

Wow, we don't have clubs in our school... we don't have sports we can play either... it's just P.E. and that's it...

Camera's are good... I like camera's... they caught a lot of kids who were being annoying by those camera's...

Oh, not to be rude or anything but..
there is so many girlie girls at our school!.
I told my mom that and she is like..' oh yeah, its like 90% of teh school who are like that' LOL

Girly-Girls... yeah I understand what you don't like about them. People usually consider me one too, but girly-girls gossip and I don't... there're so many differences between me and real girly-girls! I don't like them either, but I just stay away from them... Or I become friends with them and then when we're friends I just don't gossip with them you know. I stay true to myself and not let other people turn me into something I'm not

Girly-girls aren't really the worst kind of people you know.. they're just annoying when they gossip so much and "OOOOOH MYYY GOOOOOOOD"  all day long... lol They really just scream in your face "LIIIIKE OOOOOH MYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOD" haha that's so annoying... but when they hang around with people that are not really like that, they'll turn the volume and gossiping down.. that's what happened to me when I hung with girly-girls... they became... more normal lol

But I shouldn't worry so much if I were you. School sucks, but you spend most time there, so you just need to make the best of it. Try to meet new people, hang around with different kind of people so you will get a good impession of everything and everyone. It's impossible to like everything and everyone, but you have to try everything! Sometimes things look worse than they really are School is fun!! except for the learning-part... but really.. School isn't that bad when you think about it and be honest

High school is awesome!
Though to be honest, I think I appreciate it more since I left than when I was actually there, lol. Looking back, it was all so easy, but at the time it was really hard work.

The social aspect of it was the best, I'm sure most people will agree with that.

At my secondary school (high school) we didn't have lockers, and didn't have an allocated time to get between classes, so when you had to go from one side of the school to the other you were usually late, especially from PE/dance/drama classes.

I hope you enjoy your time at high school. It will fly by, so make the most of it, have fun and of course, study hard

Looks who is back!.
Since you guys wanted to know how it was during school....... I will tell you. Not everything cause it was like a week ago so yeah.

Ok, well, teh first day I walked with my friends to school at like 7:30ish. Gpot there tried to open my locker(which now its not co-operating with me) lol. While I was going to my first class with my best friend(no she isn't in teh same class as me)... A girl was by my classroom door. So, we are just satnding there until I said ' hi, your in  French class? first period? ' she smiled and said yes. I said nice. Of course I had to be weird lol. We introduced ourselves. Not that bad for a shy girl like me . We went in sat beside eachother, but didn't spoke a word. The bell rang and the announcements had said to all students to come into their classes. So, all you see is a bunmch of grade 9's coming into French class aha. We didn' do much. She just gave us out papers because we had an assembly..... and saw teh president council *drools* LOL. Same goes as my other class just introducing yourselves and stuff. In geography class.. is so much fun! because teh teacher is so cool. He makes me laugh all the time aha. The worst thing I had done was gym in third period. We do Fitness and Varity so, we did a little game to warm ourselves up and has squads I am on squad 2. It was almost like tag, but your squad has to chase the rest of the other people... but in how many min. you will do that.. my squad catched over 15 people in 49 sec. I think. When it was time for teh other squads I was running my fastest of course so fast that I couldn't countrol how to stop when someone was standing at a place. What have you noticed I pushed her by an accident to teh ground like 2wice. Yikes, I got marks off I think for my safety..great. As I was getting into the rountine and meeting new people.. that I think they can make good freinds which will be like(5 poeple I met ). As I was getting into the rountine I had a couple of things for homework so I decided to go to the library and do it there. But, teh stares to go up stares were so much and my hands were full and heavy, alot of poeple were walking, but they walk so clumsy and never let me pass.. I have to move over so they can walk on their way... then WHOOPSIES my pencil case with my card(to see games and etc.), timetable, money(13$), pencils/eraser/pens/gel pens all in one went all teh way down stares... I couldn't go back down cuse it was so buzy, but a guy had saw it and looked up.. and I kept walking forward then went back down stares when I told my freind about it. Went back wasn't there! and I was panicking cause my time table says my name, OEN, grade everything! and my card says where you live and stuff. I was freaking out. Never stop talking about. Asking people questions, etc. Now, I just need to calm down and start not to think about it.
Besides those stuff I just said.... lets go beyond likeyou guys want to know. lol. Today, I was walking to my locker after gym. It was my lunch time and stuff.. when I take a turn to go to my lc=ocker there was these 2 couples making out in front of everyone! I am like, in my head, ' dudes, can you make out somewhere else!' . People holding hands etc. It sort of bugged me for a sec. then I didn't care cause I never experienced before so yeah. lol.
K, well, the boys in our school are SO TALL. I go near one guy in my Religion class and I am only up to his waist haha.
That reminds me, my religion teacher talks so fast! sometimes she repeats the same thing, but in different wrds, but she is cool as well! people might not think so but she is.

Today, also, I signed up for choir!. Finally, I could make an audition it took several minutes to go in, but when I did. I was nervous, but not really. The teacher(a guy) asked me what I will sing.. and I sang Wait For You by Elliott Yamin. Jeeze, I screwed up!. I went right directly to teh chorus and not starting to the beginning of teh song. I was so nervous that moment i asked him if I can grab my cell and play the beginning of my song and he said ok. So, I did and contnuted. He said it was good. and asked me to sing out national anthem I did and did stuff on the piano. So, I think I didn't make it. I am also,. going to try out for volleyball, badminton, chess club and step squad(dance team).

Hope you guys liked what I had to tell you guys.

I think I got more confidence now... for talking to people.
Not really males though I am still working on that lol.

=)
