OMG! I'm just watching Austria-Poland and Poland just scored...I want Austria to win, the whole country is in total euphoria, everything is red and white. It's really funny seeing all the people singing and dancing on the streets. When I went on the underground today a singing/screaming contest just went down between Austrians and Poles (??). As long as it doesn't gent nasty I'm totally fine...

Quote from: Artanis on June 12, 2008, 01:07:08 pm I'm a bit amazed that you two follow the european championship, because if I'm not mistaken you're both from non-european countries right? I didn't know it was that popular...
| I'm half italian! But even non-european people here follow the championship, cuz the teams are playing beautifuly, and the teams have many famous playrs!
Quote from: Artanis on June 12, 2008, 01:07:08 pm Mai: you're from Egypt right? didn't they win the african cup? So cool!!
| Yes,it was fantastic to win the african cup 2 times in a row ... My happiness would be perfect and complete if italy win this championship too!

Normally if there's a football competition as big as Euro 08 I would be following it - not watching all the matches but keeping track of the scores and things. But this year, seeing as England nor Ireland are in it (my two favourite international teams), I haven't been following at all!
Artanis, like you I can't wait for the Olympics - but only because I love watching the gymnastics and diving.

I have always loved football - I even liked playing it as a little girl and still do now - so of course I am watching the Euro 2008.
However, I can only watch half the games because they are being shown on two TV stations and I can only receive one of them. Also, sometimes I am still work or University when the 6pm games are shown.
However I managed to see the two Germany games. The first game was fun to watch and Germany won, but the second game against Croatia was painful to watch - for the German team.
In all fairness, I have to admit that they played rather badly. They admitted that they probably were too self-confident. I would like to see them back to their old strength against Austria - it is more fun to watch a skilled German team rather than the one we saw yesterday...
The German newspapers today agree with me... The most famous German tabloid labelled their headline: Croatastrophe... It's quite funny, in a way.

Thanks Kathi. May the better team win.
By the way, do people take part in these "Auto-Corsos" where you are? I hate them ... Why do people do it? There are more fun ways of celebrating. A few days ago some people in this town got injured after someone in front of them had to break sharply and they flew off the hood of the car onto the road.... Everybody's complaining about the high gas prices but they take part in these "Auto-Corsos"... I will never understand it.
The Italian team don't seem to be in such a good shape this time around... Unfortunately I couldn't see the game yesterday ...
I just discovered that I can watch the games that are broadcast by the German station "ARD" on www.ard.de

Oh well, we lost. I expected it, but the Austrians did a good job anyway and after all Germany deserved to win. I'm also very excited about Germany vs. Portugal!! I've never heard of Auto-Corsos, good that I don't live in the center of town I like Holland...I would like them to win!

I agree with you, Kathi. The Austrian team did their best. Except, some of the fouls were unnecessary in my opinion but other than that, they played well.
Edit: The German trainer has been banned - due to his discussion with the Austrian trainer - from the next game!
