Wow, an SNL thread.  Neat.

I love SNL.  I mean, I loved it more a few years ago and even then, there were a few raunchy skits.  I thought Will Ferrel was hilarious.  Celebrity Jeopardy was my FAVORITE!  "I'll take the rapists for 200."  "That's THERAPISTS..."  Oh there are so many good ones!  Or Turd Ferguson (i.e. Burt Reynolds):  "I'm wearing a hat.  It's funny.  It's funny cause it's a big hat."  And so on.

My favorite cast member now is Maya Rudolph.  However, I have a bit of a soft spot for Horatio Sans - especially when he plays Jimmy Fallon's roommate on that bit where they do a talk show from his dorm room...I forget the name - cause he laughs while he does skits sometimes.

It's a good show.  I used to watch it every week, but now I just watch it when I go home.  I wish they'd re-air the older ones cause they were funny.  I remember the Steve Martin Christmas Wishes one!  Ahahahaha!  Or they one where he sings a song about King Tut.  Oh, good times.

I like the show - can you tell?

No, not at all... hehehe.

Maya Rudolph is fantastic, and I'm also partial to Seth Meyers and Tina Fey.  I wish they'd utilize Chris Parnell or Darrell Hammond more, but it seems since Ferrel, Kattan, and Gasteyer (and perhaps Molly Shannon and Cheri Oteri) left there hasn't been much for them to do.  Everyone else is on a different level so to speak.  Or that they'd leave the show and move on.  No, I don't really wish that, but it seems their talents are wasted nowadays.

I think that Ferrel, Kattan, and Gasteyer are the most talented so they would like to use them more than the others.

My absolute fav era of SNL was the late 80's/early 90's.  Gap girls, Coffee Talk, Nat X, The Denise Show, that skit where Phil Hartman said it's "fobody's nault", Def Jam parodies, Hyper Hypo, Chippendale's,Lunch Lady Land, Church Lady,Schmitt's Gay beer commercial, the Swiss hidden camera and coffee commercial w/ Chris Farley, Nerf Crotch Bats, Hollywood Update,Wayne's World, Dana Carvey as Ross Perot, George Bush Sr., Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton... I could go on and on...

I think the best SNL's were in the 90's. I miss Will Ferrell and I loved Chris Kataan's character Mango as well. My favorite person on there now is Jimmy Fallon. I don't remember the overweight guys name but hes always in skits with Jimmy and they almost always start cracking up. Its so funny just to see that.

I wish they'd release SNL on DVD in seasons instead of " Best of...."  I really want to see the original episodes (which E! did not show frequent enough) plus the Eddie Murphy/Joe Piscopo (sp?) era.  I agree with elijahjovi that the early 90s were a great era. Sure, not every episode was great, nor were some seasons great (didn't they have members of the brat pack as a cast once?  who thought of THAT?!), but I want to see them anyway.

And Gilda Radner.  My, that woman was fantastic.

Gilda Radner was a phenomenon.  Seriously.

I wish I could see the older episodes as well.  Or early 90's.  I loved it when Dana Carvey played Ross Perot!  So did my dad, incidentally.  He even bought The Best of Dana Carvey and it is hilarious.  She makes on helluva Church Lady.

Wayne's World was awesome as well.  God, there were so many good skits!  Rah.

I didn't know Ana Gasteyer was still on the show.  I know she was pregnant and not doing much for a while but I haven't seen her on there for a long time now.

Hey Erica:  The guy that does skits with Jimmy Fallon is Horatio Sanz.  Sans?  Dude, it's one of those two.

I do like Weekend Update.  Colin what's-his-face wasn't as funny.  Oooh, but I did like Norm McDonald.  I know not everyone liked him, but he appealed to me.  Woohah.

Yep...I am an old school SNL fan.  Loved Adam Sandler when he was on the show.  But Chris Farley was the best.  *snicker* Chippendale's.  Love it.  Ah..and how can you forget Schmitt's Gay beer commercial.  Great stuff.
I only catch SNL every so often now.  I have to admit, I am a fan of Will Ferrel.

Is that Dana Carvey song go something like "choppin' brocoll-ay..." etc.?

I can hear him singing it.  Man, the good old days.  Makes me feel all wistful and crap.

That Gay Schmidt commerical is PRICELESS.

My favorite guest sketch is The Continental.  Christopher Walken is amazing.  And sleazy.

I actually own 'The best of Eddie Murphy' and 'The best of Chrisw Rock'. Eddie Murphy was hilarious back on SNL and Chris Rock did a couple of great skits. Does anyone remember the episode with Eddie Murphy playing Stevie Wonder with Frank Sinatra?

YESSSS!!!!! When I started that thread about Celebrity Jeopardy almost a year ago, no one really knew what it was. Man, my favourite skit is the one that goes:

Alex: "It's been a hard day's night, I've been working like a dog. It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like-a-this."

*beep*

Alex: Burt Reynolds?

Burt: Chinese whore.

Bahahaha. I used to love Norm McDonald - he was so damn hilarious! And sexy.

The Gap Girls skit was awesome as was Lunch Lady land and Opera man! Dude, I just like Adam Sandler. I rented the Best of Sandler and...oh man.

*goes on search of the CJ thread*

With Chris Farley and Adam Sandler? I like that myself. I can't believe i forgot to say the Chris Farley is one of my favorites! fat man in a little coat... maybe not from SNL but great. And what about that one (on SNL) were hes supposed to be like a therapist or something helping a family (David spade is one of the kids) and he goes kind of crazy and breaks the table and stuff. He-larious.

I  don't think I've seen that...
I love celebrity Jeopardy as well. The one with "sean connery" is so funny! Hes like "i would like 'Tits' for 100" And it was really 'Titles' or something. I forget what it was. Then the one with Ben Stiller as Tom Cruise was great too.
Whats the Cj thread?

I watch SNL maybe a couple times a year.

Half of my Drama class is obsessed with it, though.  So therefore I've been walking around for the past week singing:

"Who's that spartan in my tipi? It's me! It's me! Who's that spartan in my tipi? It's me! It's me! My name is Greg.  I did drugs once.  I am a spartan.  So check me out!"

I think his name was Greg.

There's some part with a girl too, but all I know is that it goes "My name is (?).  I don't do drugs.  I am a spartan.  So check me out!"

Can someone tell me what the hell this is?

I LOVE that one! >__< Thats the cheerleader skit with Will Ferrel and that one lady. (I can't recall her name. I really do have a bad memory) Does that help?
I wish you could see the one with the Pumpkins, Hazy. They were awesome and looked really snazzy. (Actually i think they've been on 2 or 3 times.) Or have you seen it now?
