There's a reason it makes no sense...It's not the real reason.

I have lost the link now, of course, but there was an article in Fox News (and normally I wouldn't give you TWO CENTS for Fox news!) that I think hits the nail on the head.

In November, Dan will be doing his nude scene in Equus on Broadway. There's NO WAY WB wants him doing PR on HBP, a family film, and answering questions about the nude bit at the same time. Also, the appearance could very well cut into the box office in some places.

I could understand that Dan might not be able, timewise, to do the required PR during his Broadway run, and if they had just told us that, I could be merely disappointed. But I REALLY think it's the fact that he's nude on stage that is the problem. WB moved the film to next summer to get it as far from the Equus run as they can.

I don't think we need to worry about them moving the last two films unless Dan decides to do a revival of his role.

It's a bit silly, but it makes more sense than anything WB has said to this point.
Hugs,
Rach

I agree with you, Rach.  That does make more sense than what WB is saying.

Still doesn't make me like it any better.

Thanks for that info Rach.  I'm a bit more sympathetic now - it's easier to understand this.  After all, weren't some of the previous films released in November, or there abouts?

Has anyone seen the new film yet?  I'm only just back from holiday but I can't wait to see it - all the trailers look amazing!

hope you get a chance to see it Elizabeth.

Finally I saw it - thought it was really good though the book was better.  The actors all seem to have progressed loads from the last film - Rupert Grint (Ron) was particularly good.

Okay, as a laymen I'd say that it was an amazing movie... but when I'm going to get out the critic and look at the movie carefully... then the first question to pop in my head is "WHERE IS THE BOOK?!"

I mean... The book was cut to shreds and only very little is REALLY used in the movie. The love affairs definitely get more attention than finding the horcruxes. The love affairs get ALL the attention, to be exact. It's nice, but in the book there isn't much about the affairs and there's more about the horcruxes, as far as I remember.

I liked the movie, but I can definitely see where all the critisism comes from.

SPOILERS!

I agree completely with you Pamela.  I thought it was sort of rubbish that the horcruxes weren't mentioned until nearly the end of the film, and then immediately after they were, Dumbledore and Harry went to get the ring.  It was far more realistic in the book, as it seemed that they actually had to spend time looking for it.  And I didn't like the addition of the Christmas at the Burrow scene - thought it was a bit fakey.

Though on the plus side, I thought it was an amazing film, if a little confusing if you hadn't read the book, and I thought Slughorn (Jim Broadbent) was brilliant.

i forgot to bring something up about this movie...

it seems like there will be another movie after this because the ending was pretty vague. i mean, it just left me hanging to find out more about harry potter and his friends and his enemys...ya know?

people i know kept on saying that this was the last movie. i haven't read any of the books so, i don't know...

^ There's actually 2 movies left to come Jen.  The Half-Blood Prince, the one that's just come out, is made from the sixth book in the Harry Potter series, and there is a seventh book, The Deathly Hallows.  But that book will be made into 2 films because it's so long.

I've now seen HBP in the cinema - twice.

And I LOVED it!   It's hands-down the funniest of all the films so far.  Don't wanna give anything away, so I'll just say that the "Felix Felicis" scene was a total crack-up (anyone who's seen the movie will know of what I speak )

Yes, I was still a tad disappointed that the Gaunts weren't shown, but ... oh well... it was still worth it.  Plus, I guess the director/producers figured there'd be more than enough tension, bloodshed and "heavy" stuff in the final two films.

Yes, the first film will be titled, "Harry Potter and the Deathly" and the second film will be titled "Hallows".

Okay, not really.
