Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just saw this on snitchseeker.com:
Quote:No Gaunts. No Hepzibah No Lord Voldemort (the Ralph Fiennes version lol) No Trelawney No Dursleys No [Dumbledore's] Funeral Half the battle at Hogwarts cut All scenes with Tonks cut except for a new one at the Burrow
More Quidditch More romance An extra scene at the Burrow |
I think I'll wait for the DVD.

^^^ If all the above is true, I'll be a bit disappointed too Aisling!
The scene near the beginning where Dumbledore comes to collect Harry from the Dursley's is sooo funny ... And HOW ON EARTH can they leave out Dumby's Funeral??!!
UNLESS... If they're really doing two Deathly Hallows movies, the funeral scene could be carried over to the beginning of the next film I guess...

It is a bit disappointing to read that, but thanks anyway Aisling. I always welcome more Quidditch....but no Dursleys? No funeral? The funeral is a vital part - unless, as Gem says, they carry it over....but I can't see JKR agreeing to that!

I wonder if she really has much control over what the director shoots. As I've said before, I was a bit disappointed with what they left out of Number 5 film, and No. 6 has the same director, so we'll see...

I'm beginning to think JKR has no script approval whatsoever, or at least not since CoS. If I were JKR, I'd demand they fire Kloves and let me choose my own screenwriter.
I totally agree that the funeral is a vital part. I could see how it could be carried over, but I don't see why they would.
I really hope at least some of this information is wrong, or that it was changed before post-production.

I am going to reserve judgement until I see the film. First of all, you can't guarantee anything, but mostly because I understand that some things have to change between text and film. LOTR had lots of things like that. I hated to see the book changed, but I understood why they had to. I think I'll give the HP filmmakers the benefit of the doubt on this one.
I don't see how they can leave out the funeral either, but we'll see.
Hugs, Rach

I don't know how much control JKR has over the screenplay or anything like that, but I'm sure if they were going to change the story too much from the book then she would have some control over that. I agree that the Gaunts are a large part. I personally have some doubts anyway about how this book will translate to screen - there is a lot of back story.

Yesterday, I checked imdb.com and noticed two other conspicuously absent names: Bill and Fleur.
How the...?
And yet they keep Fenrir Greyback.
I don't think I'll ever understand Hollywood types.

Sorry 'bout that Shayda! But really, it's only a movie... I can't believe I just said that!!! *slaps self* It's only the most important film series to have come out since Rings - WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?!!
Producers/director take note: Don't stuff it up, or you'll have Shayda and I to deal with - and it won't be pretty!

Maybe they're just not casted yet? Maybe they'll be up there soon? Plus imdb.com is notoriously unreliable sometimes.
