It's a little cheesy...but I admit it makes me cry. I have a softspot for tearjerker disaster movies I guess. And Elijah's scenes are some of the most interesting.

Mmyes? Haha, my name is Sarah.
Yeah, the movie was quite cheesy. I liked it, back in the day, though. I'm just not really into all the "oh no, the world's about to end" kind of movies.

Yeah, I have to admit I think it's cheesy now but when I first saw it all the way through (at least with the Elijah conscience, I already saw it before that), it was a tearjerker for me. Actually the one part where I was really almost brought to tears was when the buses were stopping at their neighborhood and the girlfriend's parents weren't on the list or something and after the fighting she eventually got on the bus without Elijah, and she ran to the back of the bus crying while Elijah was just standing there on the street being left abandoned by her. I guess I was really into her position back then.
I loved it at the end when they escaped the waves on the top of the hill and looked up at the meteor shower together. He was so cute and...fetishable (I think I just made up my own word)

Hi guys! Last night I was looking through my grandma's TV channels, and I saw that Deep Impact was on TNT. You should have seen me run out of her room and into the livingroom to grab my camera! I only got to see the last 15 mins, but it was worth it!
Only problem, my camera was out of battery, so it kept shutting off on me! And me, being the brainless person I am, forgot to bring extra batteries!
So needless to say, I did get a few photos, but not good ones.
So, now that I have seen the ending, I'm thinking I want to see the whole movie now, lol. I didn't understand anything that was going on!
Running up-hill with a lady and baby? http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s87/ElijahWoodx3/DeepImpact--runninguphill2.jpg Still running... http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s87/ElijahWoodx3/Elijah.jpg Yay! They made it! lol http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s87/ElijahWoodx3/DeepImpact--onhill.jpg Huddled together on the top of the hill...
And get this! After Deep Impact was over, guess what was on Sci Fi! Hercules, with Sean Astin! I almost screamed!

And needless to say, this totally made my Easter worth-while!
Also, if anyone has seen this movie, could they explain the jist of it to me? I'd really appreciate it!

Hey, glad you had a good time. While procrastinating, I thought I'd explain what the film is about..
While eyeing the sky through his telescope one night, (Elijah) views an unusual object. Unknown to him, it's a comet on a direct collision course for earth. After announcing the comet, the President (Morgan Freeman) announces that there is no need to worry because NASA is taking care of it, by sending astronauts on a space mission to destroy the comet. The mission backfires however. Special caves are built and there is a lottery to select a certain amount of citizens to enter the caves and survive. (Elijah) is chosen to enter the cave but his girlfriend isn't. Grudgingly he leaves her, but just as he is about to be saved, he runs away and gets her (and the baby - her sibling as far as I remember). They try to leave the city and reach the top of the mountain just as the comet hits.
By the way, there are many screencaps at http://www.elijahfan.com/gallery/index.php?spgmGal=Movies

This is my version of Deep Impact
In Deep Impact Aliens have landed on earth and the baby you see is infected with like, an Alien virus and Elijah and the chick are running to the top of that hill so that the baby is destroyed in this massive explosion. Hope that helps

HAHAHA Vic! If only that's what Deep Impact was really about! *snicker*
And thank you, Carina, it looks very good. I think I will rent it.
Also, I know I sound like a 10 year old, but why is it rated PG-13? My parents need to know before I am allowed to see it... Grrr...

It's rated that for intense disaster related elements and brief language.

I remember Elijah saying something about how the script pertaining to his and Leelee Sobieski's characters ended up being a lot different from what he agreed to originally, and that he felt character development was kind of shortchanged. In the making-of-feature, the director mentions that they originally had a more passionate kiss. Does anyone know any more about this?

The "making of" is supposed to be on my DVD but it's not. I heard a few other people have this problem too. So, unfortunately I can't help you there.

Sorry if I'm bringing ths up again and shouldn't, but I wanted to say I did see the reat of Deep Impact, and it was very good. I actually cried the second time I saw it because I knew what was happening!
Only one complaint, Elijah had a big role, but only a few lines. That was my big bummer.
And, the girl he was running up the hill with was his wife
