Elijah as Einstein: "Picasso at The Lapin Agile"

There aren't too many details on this movie yet but it seems that Elijah is possibly going to play Einstein in a new movie called Picasso at The Lapin Agile.
Toby Maguire was originally cast for the role but dropped out. From what I can gather Ryan Phillippe is playing Picasso!
There are more details here: http://www.themovieinsider.com/m907/picasso-at-the-lapin-agine/ and http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,64258,00.html
It seems strange the Elijah's never mentioned it but I think the project has been on hold for a couple of years.

Whoa. This is really crazy. You know alot of people are goin to say he can't pull this off, but hey, they also said that about Frodo and the guy from Sin City.. Kevin right? So, I'm looking foward to it.

I'd love to see him in this movie, and I know he's very versatile and talented, but..... I really don't want to see him acting as Albert Einstein. Just in my opinion that kind of crosses the line when it comes to a stretch. Not like it's absolutely undoable or anything, but I can imagine an older actor who's German and looks at least somewhat like Albert Einstein filling the part a lot better, and...as much as I cheer Elijah on for doing all sorts of different parts, I just don't think that Einstein's for him. If you get what I mean.
But we'll just have to see what happens in time...

I was actually wondering about that too, Yeux. The couple of articles list him but without specifying the role. And, if it is young Einstein, it is not as much of a stretch. Does anyone know how old Einstein and Picasso are supposed to be in the play?

Born in 1879 apparently. So, 25 in 1904. Which sounds like the right age for Elijah, huh?

Picasso at The Lapin Agile is a play written by Steven Martin. The role of Einstein has always been played by a young actor, so I gather from this that Einstein is quite young when he meets Picasso.
If Elijah does get to play this role in the movie version then I think he would be brilliant in it!

This film sounds great - I really hope it comes through and that Elijah gets a part... but it is a bit strange that he's never mentioned it before
