I watched the movie 2 days ago.....It was different then what I expected....but still good.....It didnt show a whole lot of Lij in it....and I hated the ended (if you seen the movie...I mean the Very end)I was hoping that that wouldnt happen, and it did!WTF! I probably dont make sence 2 the people who havent seen it......Anywayz...Am I wierd to think that Lij was freakin sexy with a gun????And it didnt seen right with Rosario Dawson being his wife...i dunno why...But its a good movie if you like kinda slow...gang movies...And you like Edward Burns!(all in all, a ok movie......i give it a 7-10)!!!I still love my Elijah!!!

Hey girls,
I've just seen this movie and I really got to say some things about it. I lucked out when I went to the CD store today looking for the All I Want soundtrack, but I don't think there even IS one for the movie, which is a pity cos it's got great songs in the movie.
Anyway, back to the movie. So as not to give away any spoilers to those who haven't watched, but this just some thoughts.
Ash Wenesday was a good movie, good but not great. It was quite slow in the beginning, but once it gets onto what the main plot is about, I think that's when it starts to become tense and interesting. That's how I found it anyway. The slightly edgy camera work was excellent. It enhanced the tense, exciting, emotional, angry moments very well. The repetitive piano music, was weird and tuneless at the start, but soon became essential in setting the mood of the movie.
Although some say it was a predictable plot, I started watching the movie, without having any idea of what it was all about. And, it was great! I felt all the worry and anger and tense moments at the right places in the movie. Really good.
So, having said this, I believe that the idea of the story is a great one. The story of how an older brother saves his only younger brother and his wife(whom he cares about, incidently), the idea itself, might have been done before. But in this movie, it comes across as about scarifice, self-denial, of love and redemption. And to me, it gets the message across clearly.
The acting was just brilliant. Edward Burns and Elijah was just great in their scenes together. They played off one anothers' parts, so well, it was just awesome to watch. Burns is fantastic, anyway.
The language is R rated, and if you don't like too much swearing, well, this isn't for you. I've never heard Elijah say F*CK before, but he said it with such fury and frustration meant behind it, that it was just brilliant, LOL despite, the whole context of it. Hee! just an obeservation!
Ash Wednesday's ending leaves you shocked at first, and but it also leaves you disturbed and sad. Which is what it is meant to do, I believe.
All in all, this is a good movie. Watch it because it's good, and it has Elijah in it. Eventhough, he doesn't appear a whole lot, when he does, he's really brilliant as he always is. Great expressions as ever. And as a plus, he looks really hot, too. LOL when is he never?!
I'm glad he chose to do a movie like this and I can understand why he likes indie movies with such material as Ash Wednesday. It shows his great potential as an actor as well as, it does tell a good story.
But, go watch it when you can, you might have something to say about it.

You should see Faculty, then. He screams it on more than one occasion. Not with fury or frustration, but the kind of adrenaline-fueled fear that just causes four-letter words to spill from your mouth.

Okkkk so I watched Ash Wednesday last night!
I thought it was really good. It was a different style of film. And I didn't know that it would've appealed to Elijah! Shows how much I know. L0L..
Newayzz...the movie kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't know who would die, who wouldn't die, etc etc. And the music was such melancholy. If u watch a movie like 'Gattaca', the music is similar. It gets higher when the tension builds.
Oh yea, and Elijah has said f**k before. If u watch The Faculty he says, 'f**k u Zeke.' when they're in the Science room. Just thought i'd tell ya.
Elijah was great as the younger brother. The anger he had, the tension, and look on his face when he sees a girl is absolutely gorgeous. Even in the movies he looks like a genuine guy, it makes u wanna melt
Newayzzz if u havent watchd it, make sure u check it out!!!
I give it 5 stars!!!!!
