Quote from: sorceress1986 on February 26, 2007, 02:20:50 pm BTW, what's all this with some people disliking it because they think it's pushing a political agenda? Could someone please make some sense of this?

it's stupid really. these people think an animated film should be impartial. it should be fun, happy and entertain the audience only. adding a message in would only cause confusion for the younger crowd. but it's the children who are going to change things (hopefully for the better) in the future. the message is important, and i for one am glad they did it.

What's even more ridiculous and stupid about it is that cartoons have been making messages and morals for generations, in just about every Disney movie you can think of, and especially in Bambi, where there's a lot of environmental message in the end. They don't raise their blood pressure about Bambi, now, do they?
I don't know, I'm just apalled and baffled by the kind of extreme mentalities going on right now in America that pick on a movie that's not really different than other good cartoons. It's a step in the backwards direction, I can tell you that.

FYI: The whole Oscar video with Mumble is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxOx1t8NEgk
Thanks to Malin who posted it on the comment box.
ETA: Apparently, it was taken down due to a complaint from the AA.

this morning, i got an alert from variety.com and they mentioned that a lot of things that were broadcast from the show probably won't be seen again.
the academy wasn't too thrilled to see clips from the show on youtube. i'm pretty sure that something new will be on the dvd and it'll be pretty cool too.

Has anyone ever put Oscar stuff onto DVDs? I can't really imagine it. They'd probably have a problem with that too. I'm just really p*ssed at the academy for being so uptight about YouTube. Other TV companies and such don't go around pulling videos because they realize it's free publicity. And if you miss the footage, how the heck else are you going to find it? Why are they trying to rip us off?? Why don't they rerun the frickin' Oscars?? I can't find any channels that would do it. It's basically a policy of 'If you miss it, you'll never see it again in your life, have a nice day'.

Quote:| But the makers of Happy Feet involved in making the clip. That means they still could have some rights to publish it in the DVD, right? |
there's about 4 different film companies who have characters from that clip. it's probably not likely it would be on the happy feet dvd or maybe any others just for the reason of company bragging rights.

I see that HF is being released for sale on 3-27-07; that can't be enough time for them to add that clip. I'd hate to buy the DVD only to have a more “complete” one offered a few months later.

Quote from: Yeux de bleu on March 03, 2007, 08:26:28 pm I'm hoping they will include the "Making of Happy Feet" feature that ran on HBO. It was wonderful. | that along with a lot more behind the scenes. you can never have enough of those.
i was in the grocery store's frozen food section yesterday and something caught my eye on the floor. great big penguin feet! too cute. i would have taken a picture of it, but that would have been too weird.
