I just found out that Bobby will released as a DVD in Germany in June 2007. Here is the link. I pre-ordered it from amazon.de already.

That's great, because I want to watch this one too. I also found out that the release in German movie theaters was on March 8th 2007. There are only two theaters near my town which show it. Maybe I can watch the movie in one of the theaters before.

Yeux, don't kill me but I thought this was funny when I first read it. Becuase most people know what happened...it's history Makes no sense to anyone else but I'm weird.

Of course it is part of recent history, but there are other characters on the movie who are fictional(as Elijahīs) and we donīt know what is going to happen about them... that is what Yeux meant.

Quote from: Yeux de bleu on April 08, 2007, 07:19:01 pm There is a 5 min. 55 sec. YouTube clip of most of Eljah's scenes from the movie. It's really good. Doesn't have dialog...just the scenes set to a musical background, but beautifully done.

Hmm... well I've seen clips with Lij and LL, and I want to know what happens! BUT, no one tell me. I am going to see this movie... someday.
I wanted to see it in theaters, but they didn't have it anywhere in Massachusetts

I think it was funny to me just because it reminded me of something a TV presenter said to Johnny Depp

OK, I got my copy of the DVD and finally watched Bobby...
Overall, it wasn't bad. Wasn't great, though. Writing needed a lot of work. Cast was WAY too big. Cast was far too bipolar. Not enough Elijah, David Krumholtz and a few others, but really could have done without a many others.
Ket me get specific in a rant. OK, it isn't THAT hard to play drunk, so what is Demi Moore's excuse?!?! And there is a reason they didn't use her to sing in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' and this proved it. Ashton, I understand, was an emergency, but that storyline couldn't have been cut down immensely. Was Lindsay Lohan really trying? We're kidding, I hope. Where did Heather Graham's character really fit? She was a link, nothing more...That's off the top of my head.
The storylines leading up to the ending were far too simple and short. If the storylines had been cut down, that might have been easier...
OK, now let's get specific to Elijah:
I pity him in ways I hoped I never had to. I read a few reviews that compared his acting to his last name...I would blame that on that brick wall he had to deal with. You are only as good as the other person in the scene. 'Nuff said. And why does he so often end up in a pool of blood. I would have let him die just to get away from her! OK, that was biased on both ends of the argument, I know, but that girl has given me enough reasons to dislike her.

Ok, so I finally saw this (bought it the day it came out on DVD, for Elijah). As a kaleidoscopic view of the Ambassador Hotel (standing as a microcosm of the greater country) on the eve of Bobby's death, it has a certain fascination, but its biggest problem is telling the story through the eyes of this array of characters and not giving any of them a chance to be three-dimensional or the actors enough screen time to stand out.
It really stands out as a movie that needed a lot of editing and tightening up and unfortunately didn't get it. A lot of the characters are completely superfluous, like Heather Graham, the Czech reporter, Ashton Kutcher's ridiculous cameo that belonged with the deleted scenes on a special feature, if even there, etc. In fact, you could almost argue that they were ALL superfluous, because no one is given a chance to be three-dimensional. I actually thought Lindsay Lohan was fine, and her scenes with Elijah were some of the most interesting in the movie (in my ever-so-slightly-biased opinion of course ). I liked Freddy Rodriguez and Shia LaBeouf, even if LaBeouf's plotline was kind of silly and extraneous. Demi Moore went over-the-top with the whole drunk thing, although it was kind of funny watching like three guys having to guide her down the hall and that hair that makes her look like some Star Trek alien queen or something. They gave such a phenomenal actor as Anthony Hopkins practically NOTHING to do, he just wanders in and out of the movie playing cards once every half hour or so. So for being so driven by this ensemble of characters, Bobby kind of failed in that regard by not giving them a chance to make us care about most of them.
The ending is powerful though, and IMO a lot of the actors went a ways toward justifying their existences with their acting when Kennedy actually gets assassinated. And that Kennedy speech playing over the shots of all the shooting victims and the archive footage puts a lump in your throat.
So, with its merits, but definitely a very flawed production that badly needed a lot of editing and tightening up BEFORE it was released.
