Elijah Wood as Iggy Pop

I read in the Jane article that Lij has another major movie role coming up!  He's going to play Iggy Pop. (Does that mean we get to see shirtless Lij sweating onstage?) I can't remember if the whole movie is about Iggy Pop, but if it is, that means we have another starring role to look forward to. I can't find any more information on this upcoming movie. Does anyone else know anything? For those who don't know, Iggy Pop is a pop singer from the past. I don't know anything else about this person (except that he's really skinny) but I plan to find out more.

Thanks Blue Angel. I've never heard of Iggy Pop before until I pressed those links about him.
I don't think Lij could play him. I read one of the links and it said that man has a strange behavior like putting peanut butter and raw meat over his chest. Ugh!! is disguisting and he looks like an anorexic.

I read that interview, but I donīt see Elijah as Iggy Pop. I donīt think they look physically similar... maybe I am wrong. The artist has had a very interesting life, so that would be a very challenging character for Elijah... letīs see what happens!!

Iggy lived a live with over 30 years of drugs and alcohol - and you see it. And he had that extremly strange behaviour on stage - he rolled himself into broken glass sometimes - I cannot see doing him the role physically - but I understand that it is a very interesting character to play.....(And that is what Lijah likes..  ) But, one very BIG PLUS:
Iggy is or was on stage the whole time half-naked....

Thank you so much for the links, Blue Angel! I did some Googling myself to see what Iggy looked like in his prime in the days of the Stooges. That's probably what the movie will focus on.
Let's see, would flexi-Lij would be a good pick for this role?
Imagine Lij with this hair and facial expression.
I wanna see Lij's version of this.
I wonder how far this portrayal will go???
I still plan on reading more deeply about Iggy's life and impact, which will be just as, or even more, important for Elijah to portray as the physical appearance. And I want to listen to some Stooges on iTunes...Lij loves them, so I'm curious to listen for myself. Isn't it fun that there's a new movie to wonder about? In the article, Elijah did say this is going to happen.

I have a hard time seeing him as Iggy too... but Hollywood can work some damn neat magic.

I have a very very very hard time seeing Elijah as Iggy   No, I can't not see Elijah as Iggy at all. I'm sorry but I hope this "News" is not true. I hope he dosn't take the role. At least not Iggy himself.

Wow! Great job, Withywindle... that just convinced me a wee bit. I guess it could be a possibility.
The man sure is skinny but muscular. I guess Lij does need to work out a bit like what he already said.... and possibly take voice and dance (if you can call it that) lessons that will help him mimic Iggy's style.
Can't wait for movie magic to happen, boojovi.

Iggy short for Iguana. Really weird! But I'm really glad he got this one after the Ian Curtis disappointment.
I just wish he wouldn't start doing drugs as a result of doing this film. *remembers what happened in The Faculty*
I'm very curious as to what the storyline might be.

Actually, I totally understand why Elijah is right for that role. He really understands music and that world. The passion. And Iggy is way cool. I love Iggy and the Stooges.
But it sure is one big challenge!
