What does the Shire remind you of?

The Shire reminds me of the English countryside, or Ireland, because its so lovely and green, and the life their is a carefree one of comfort and good times with friends. I love the Shire so much that I made a tribute video for it. The song Piano Man by Billy Joel always reminds me of a nice old pub, which in turn of course, reminds me of the life of the Shire, so I find it a very fitting song to portray it. Tell me what you think

Ireland is lovely and green, but the Shire always looks so sunny, which definately isn't the case here! Tolkien probably based the Shire on the traditional English countryside, so you're most likely right, frodolove.

Yeah, I already knew he based it on the English countryside. I just also thought it always reminds me of the song Piano Man, pubs, cozy surroundings, and things like that.

Reminds me a nice, peaceful place with pure air and no pollution sorrounded by nature. An ideal place for throw away all the stress you have.

Confound it all I should be working..<sigh>. This is too much fun.
Ok The Shire. It's the way life is supposed to be. Close to nature. Unhurried. With work to be done, but the peaceful sort that doesn't involve office politics. A paradise. A utopia. A pollution free world.
It reminds me of childhood alot. We were always outside. We got our lunches from the orange, persimon, grapefruit and surnam cherry trees outside. We lived on a lake so we fished for our dinner.
Anymore if I swim its in chlorine. And the lake, you cant get near it now. It's all built up with billionare's houses. Unless you own 3/4 of Microsoft you can't get there. All private property.
It's like a home I can't get to in a way.
Oh well such is technology and the age we live in sometimes.

When I think or say ' The Shire ' it makes me think back.. from LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring when you see Frodo/Elijah just sits there I think reading. I don't know why but it just does.

It does remind me a lot of home and that is why I love it so much. It also represents an ideal to me...pure land and pure people.

Also, The Shire really reminds me of forests. Cause its green trees everywhere. Nice and quiet.
