Quote from: Storyteller ~RSF~ on October 13, 2007, 10:15:09 am It sounded to me as if Sean didn't realize how gory this was going to be. |
I got the impression he was disappointed in the final result and you're right Sean probably jumped at the chance to play 'the bad guy' for a change. His careful understatement says a lot about what he thinks of the movie.

Well, I liked it, in part because it was filmed about 40 miles from my home! It's about a family of three brothers in a small town in the southern US (the town is actually part of Manning, SC). Whether I think it is one of his best depends upon what you're looking for. His acting is wonderful, warm and comic, and even baleful, in moments. I think you'll enjoy it.
While you are watching, make note of the athletic banners and calendars about the boys' rooms. You will see they contain a red "C" and a character that looks like chicken (it's actually a gamecock). Those are the symbols of my husband's alma mater, the University of South Carolina. apparently, the film maker was a fan. LOL
Somewhere I have the production notes from that film. A friend of mine bought them on eBay and shared them. I wonder where I put them.....
Yes. I guess it IS one of his better films, though not LOTR by any means, or even "Where the Day Takes You". I'd put it right under "Toy Soldiers", I think. I'd like to know what you think since you aren't from the southeastern US, though.
Hugs, Rach

Hello, my lovelies! I found ya again! Been having some trouble with my notifications and couldn't seem to find my way back to this thread. Of course, time has been a little tight too, so I found myself keeping up with the Sean news on LJ *thanks to Rach!*
Thanks for catching me up! Love this thread! Sean's comment about Borderland is very interesting. Probably won't be watching THAT one. But I am anxious about TFS. *Still hoping for it to come to MT*
I enjoyed Sean's favorite movies list too, Elizabeth. It was fun to see how many I liked in common with him.
Just recently picked up a copy of the Goonies ($9) and watched it for the first time in years and years I totally forgot how young Sean was and how much I liked Data and his inventions!
Gotta dash! *Waves an enthusiasticly to Storyteller, Elizabeth, Romeny, Celebrian and Rose!*

It is great to see Sean involved in these types of shows. He always strikes me as a quality individual who takes is fatherhood seriously. What a cute character Oso is...and he does look a tiny bit like Sean.

Elizabeth, glad you liked "Staying Together". I thought it was good. Dermot Mulroney also played King in WTDTY with Sean.
Culpie, yeah, I guess Oso does look a little like Sean. Cartoon characters DO sometimes look like their voices. But Sean is much thinner than Oso now. LOL He's is, as you say, a dedicated father, and loves doing things for kids. I just hope he will soon do another film or something in which we can SEE him, though.
Hugs, Rach

Yes, I am hoping for another Sean film where we can see him too. It sure seems like he is moving towards another. Hopefully, he will be encouraged by the success of TFS.

Thanks for the links about Oso, Rach. Sounds cute. We don't get Disney, so my kids won't get to watch, but it sounds like a show they might enjoy and I'm sure Sean will be wonderful.
