Wow, that does sound like a good vehicle for Sean and probably a movie that will see a wide-release this time. I hate slapstick but love zany comedies if they're well done.

I hope you are right about no slapstick (which i also hate). Bell also described a role Sean mentioned as possible in a recent radio interview (I didn't hear that one). he said he might be playing a 300 lb gay man with a Black woman trapped inside which sounds rather too much to me.
Of course, if anyone can do it, Sean can.

whoo hoo...that is good news but there were so many categories listed, I didn't see Sean's name under L & O guests. I wonder what criteria is used. Anyway congratulations to him.

Unfortunately, the nominations are out and Sean wasn't listed.
grumblegrumble "fixed" grumble grumble
I sometimes wonder if the pure scope of the LOTR movies hasn't somehow turned against these guys and made it more difficult for them to get awards, or even WORK, at times. It would be a terrible thing if their outstanding work in these three great films actually damages their careers instead of enhancing it.

Hmmm... good point. It's the old Mark Hamill syndrome again perhaps?
BUT, the trilogy certainly didn't harm the career of actors such as Cate Blanchett and Viggo Mortensen who have gone from strength to strength, or even actors such as Dom Monaghan, who was a virtual unknown before LOTR.
Some of the others seem to still be struggling to break through to the 'big-time' .. if that is indeed what they are after. Elijah for one sometimes appears to enjoy keeping a low profile for the most part, and his heart seems to be more in the music industry than the film industry, and likewise with the company he keeps.
Sean has always been ambitious (yes, I've read his book ) and is probably aiming to secure more high profile roles and recognition, but we must remember that unlike, say Viggo, or even Sean Bean, some of the other LOTR boys don't really have the qualities of a classic 'leading man', so they are unlikely to star in blockbusters etc.
Having said this, if their output, no matter how small of 'low-profile' is extraordinary in quality they should be recognised with the appropriate award nominations and accolades!

I don't think LOTR has worked against the actors as far as them getting work but the reality of it is that short male actors just aren't as much in demand as taller ones. PJ was only hiring hobbit actors from 5'4" to 5'7" in the first place due to the scale issue. I do think that if Sean and Elijah were taller, they'd be offered better roles.
As far as awards go I will never understand why SA and EW weren't even nominated for LOTR and for post-LOTR work as well. Something is working against them.

Sean wants better parts, serious parts, but mostly, he wants to support his family and one day be making more films himself. There's nothing wrong with that. The part I hate is the silly height thing. Tom Cruise is as short as the hobbit lads and has gotten LOTS of leading roles in spite of the fact that he is, in my opinion, far less talented.
I heard somewhere that Elijah was unhappy about the lack of quality parts, too. Not sure who told me. It was an article pointed out to me by one of my friends.
The thing is, Sean is fully recognized in Hollywood as one of the most respected actors of his generation. It's almost as if appearance goes before talent in this industry, something that is simply JUVENILE! No wonder that in spite of having 500+ channels on my tv, I am hard pressed to find anything to watch.
I think that EW and SA weren't nominated for LOTR was one of two reasons.
1. The films featured such a strong ensemble cast that it was difficult to single out anyone. 2. People who don't get fantasy (who think it is only for children) could not bring themselves to vote for actors playing non-human characters.
I hope it's the former, but I'm afraid it was the latter. *sigh
As to Viggo and Cate. Both are talented but looks-wise, I guess neither of them particularly fit my aesthetic taste. SA and EW both beat them all hollow!
It's all a matter of opinion.

I love all the hair, he really looks great. I wonder if this is just his look now or was this for some movie role?

It wasn't for a movie role. Has Sean ever worn a beard in a movie role, outside of Safe Passage and I KNOW it was after that. Oh and Detterrence, but again, this is WAY after that.

Whoo Hoo that is great news. If he's nominated at the very least we'd get to see him at another awards show...any maybe he'd even win!!
