About the extended editions...

I wonder if people could help me with something that's bugging me.
On the extended editions of the DVDs, towards the end of the section dealing with the last stages of filming, there's the footage of Frodo's last scene when he's writing in the book - the scene that took many "takes" because Peter Jackson didn't want to call it a wrap for the last time.
When Elijah's talking about it, he speaks of "bursting into tears" and up until recently I've assumed he meant that he burst into tears. However, watching the part in question again, I'm wondering if he means it's Peter who cried, and not him. Because when I watch it, I can't see that Elijah's actually crying although he looks very moved (unlike the bit after Dom's final speech about how LotR had made him a different person, where Elijah is definitely choking back the tears) whereas Peter Jackson definitely is weeping.
So what do you think? When Elijah talks of "bursting into tears" does he mean himself, or does he mean Peter?

when looking at that scene, i never saw a tear from elijah. he was very emotional though. you will see pete wiping his eyes with a tissue when elijah is going around giving hugs. and if you look at it with the subtitles on, it says "HE burst into tears," though i don't hear elijah saying that.

Thank you both for your comments.
I'd noticed Peter crying quite a bit, as you say, Deenan, and had studied Elijah's face very hard for any sign of a tear when he's hugging Peter. I enjoy that kind of research. I guess part of me assumed he would cry... even hoped that he would, at least a bit. Although he is indeed very moved and emotional.
I hadn't thought of watching with the subtitles on - must try that soon.
