Re:Elijah's accent in The Lord of the Rings « Reply #3 on: April 11, 2007, 05:47:50 am » Hobbits are considered as "little british people" by the fans - Tolkien was sad that no purely ancient epic was left of about british culture, so he wanted to make an epic-like story about british people. Hobbits and rohirrim are both british-like people in LotR. So I'm not really surprised that they hired accent trainers to teach british pronouncing. For instance, Dom M and Lij both sound totally different in real life. But, in LOTR, they sounded more like they came from the same area.
