Peter Jackson writing a new script...

peter and fran walsh are going to start a new script next january from the book "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold...Philippa boyens is also going to write the script.
-just thought it would be interesting to know..

the book supposedly opens on a 14 year old girl who was raped and murdered, and she watches from heaven how the people she left behind handled the tragedy..
Peter said : "It's the best kind of fantasy in that it has a lot to say about the real world," "You have an experience when you read the book that is unlike any other. I don't want the tone or the mood to be different or lost in the film."
sounds like a good book to me!

I have never read that book, but I heard it was really good. Peter should be able to do a good job on it.

I'm so happy that PJ got so much attention and acclaim from directing LOTR - everyone takes him seriously as a director now, because everyone has heard of the LOTR films, and how they made film-making history. So now everyone knows that he can direct anything, and I'm sure most authors would love him to direct adaptations of their books

I though that someone had already done the script to this and It was being filmed now. I remember because it was reported there were problems on set.
Off to Google it. I may be wrong.
Am back. God bless the internet. Film 4 had the rights but there was a problem between Alice Sebold (author) and whoever they had to direct so it stopped the project. Now they have joined forces with Peter.
It is going to be a very difficult film to make. He doesn't shy away from the tough choices.

I'm currently reading the book and it is indeed very good. I'm really happy that Peter will turn this into a movie, I think he's the best man for the job. One of my favorite films has always been Heavenly Creatures and I can really see comparisons between that one and The Lovely Bones.
I really look forward to this, a lot more than to King Kong which I'm not really thrilled about
