Can Dom speak german?

I had my brother translate what he said in the easter egg for ROTKEE, but he said it was gibberish, just a bunch of words jumbled together, in a very good german accent. I told him that he was born in germany and lived there but he said since his parents were in the army and on a base he could have never learned german. So does anyone know if he speaks german?

hmm... i have no idea. I remember a thread like this a long time ago... but i don't remember what they said on it. i think (i'm probly wrong, but for some reason, this is in my mind) i think he lived in Germany until he was 12. ... that's probly enough time to learn German... but i could be totally wrong. It's also possible that Dom was speaking a different type of German that ur brother didn't know (like a different dialect) ... once again, i don't know if German has that... but i know some other languages do.

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

Yes I'm pretty sure he does because there's a video clip somewhere of him speaking it. And since he grew up there I'm assuming he would.

He did live in Germany till he was 12, but he moved every 3 years. I don't know if he knows how to speak in german. On another board, there were this german girls and they said it's like he put all the words he remembers in german together, and said that.

i'm not sure, but looking at the words behind him on the easter egg, some of those looked to be ligit german words or phrases. i just don't think it means anything.
i'll ask my german friends if it means anything. i'll get back with you on it.

They were ligit, but they didn't make sense, 'I have iron.' and stuff like that. And I knew he lived in germany untill he was twelve, but his parents were in the army so if they were on a base it's just like living in England, you don't need to learn german.
But think I remember the interview where he speaks german, I need to look for it.

Yeah, the stuff behind him during the beginning of that "interview" were real German words, but put together, they didn't mean anything. My guess would be he probably speaks German - at least a little, if not maybe a lot.

I lived in Germany for awhile as a child and went to a Department Of Defense American school. Some kids I went to school with lived on base, some kids (including myself) did not. Since most assignments that were given to our parents were going to last at LEAST 6 months, we were all instructed in German. It was a mandatory class for me and I was only in second grade. Although Dom's family was from the UK, I'm sure there were similar mandatory classes for him. So, that clears up the question of the school teaching him German. Yes, they probably did. Also, like others have said, he DID live there for the first twelve years of his life. I'm sure he picked up on some German. I lived there for three months and I can still speak German.

It would be so cool if he speaks german perfectly You've got me dreaming again about meeting him and not being worried about my english because we could chat in german Ah, the joy of dreaming... Though I will probably never ever meet him
But I'm not entirely sure about his german. He must know at least some German, the jokes are the best prove - I mean: kick balls... He must've known that that's how we call football in german! Although the words he speaks at the beginning of the interview don't sound like the words written behind him. I'm still wondering if that was on purpose, because they sound like some legit german words, just not the ones written behind him... Does that make any sense?? Uhh I'm so confused today...

I have seen interviews with Dom in which he carries on conversations in German. The easter egg I think was meant for a bit of fun, I am sure Dom just randomly said that stuff for the comedy of it all. I dont think he actually meant for the phrases to peice together and say something.
