Your best memoires of LOTR

Well, it has been a year, last december 17th, since the last film of the trilogy of the LOTR came out. I'm feeling a little nostalgic, thinking about all the good things that the books and the films brought to my life. I was wondering if you guys were feeling the same (the main part of you may be, i guess), and if wanted to share the influence that LOTR had in you, and the good things, or bad if it is the case. i know that there are already some threads more or less related to this, but i thought it would be appropriate to start this one

Great topic, Chrysanthemus!
My best memories of LOTR...
1. Watching it with my whole family and seeing their thoughts and expressions as they watched.
2. "Dixcovering" Sean Astin and the other LOTR actors. Believe it or not, I had never heard of any of them before LOTR. LOTR is the only movie my family has ever "gotten into" and, boy, did we ever get "into it."
3. Watching ROTK for the first time and sobbing my eyes out during the Sam and Frodo scenes.
4. Talking about LOTR with my oldest son when we go on walks.
5. Having philosophical discussions with my husband about LOTR.
6. When my three year old named her stuffed dog Pippin and her teddybear, Merry.
7. Sitting on "pins and needles" during the Moria scenes and the Sholob scenes
8. "Meeting" all of you. That has been wonderful! This forum and all of you have become very important to my life and I have LOTR (and Elijah ) to thank for it.
I am sure I will come up with more memories but that is all I have for now.

it seems that LOTR really played/s an important role in your life.
Some of my dearest memoires...
1. I made a really good friend, it was 2 years ago, I was reading a LOTR magazine, then she came to me and asked if i was a fanof lotr, and then we started to talk about the films the books, and everything, and we turn out to be really good friends 2. Coming to this forum, it is really important to me I love to be here with all of you 3.It made me think about friendship, how important it is to all of us, and how far can we go for friendship in real life, because I think, but perhaps it's just me, that one of the aims, so to speak, of the film is to set a contrast between the uthopic frienship (in the film) and the friendship of real world. 4.Going to the cinema and seeing it, feeling it 5.something to hold to each year there are so much more...... *wipes tears*

oo great topic
well first off i was really sceptical off these movies when they first came out.....a couple of my really close friends were really into them and they really wanted me to see them, i didnt want to but i decided to anyways cause Orlando Bloom was in them and if the movie sucked then i could at least watch him....so i sorta went into seeing them with a really negative attitude and didnt really give it a fair chance, we did sorta a marathon the first two we watched at home then the next day we went to see rotk in theatres....i didnt really watch the first two but in the theatre i payed attention and truely realized how amazing these films were.....it was one of the first times i cried over a movie....and so now ive become more open minded towards lots of things, movies especially
next would be that these are movies that ive actually become "obsessed" (well thats what everyone tells me i am ) over
and third would be, like someone said before, i found this great site with great people on it
so yeah, lotr means a lot to me

Well, for one, this movie made me the happiest girl alive!, I swear, everytime I watch the movies or read the books I can translate to Tolkien's world and feel better. I got to see all this AMAZING actors, and began admiring them, to the point that I want to be as good as them as an actress. I love the excitement it brought to me every year when one of the movies was about to come out. The day before the movie came out, I was squealing every now and then. I wrote a page in my diary commenting on how excited I was of going to see it. I love the fact that I was so overwhelmed with the fact that I was going to watch the third and last film, making me all teary!, I was sitting in the cinema and when the 'New line cinema presents' thingy appeared, I squealed silently and jumped in my seat while my eyes got all watery, and my cousin sitting next to me was like 'ok, coussy, don't cry' and I gulped and was like 'oh, I'm not gonna do it now!, what do you think I am?'... LOL!, yah right! Movies and books gave a lot to me, I can't think of more now. Though, there's one extra thing, I get to share this LOTR's freakness with my best friend, isn't that great?!. We actually became best friends for our love for the movies and books, I gotta thank Tolkien and Peter Jackson and everyone who made those things possible for that!.
Sorry, I wrote too much!!

Oh yeah, me too i feel soooooooo nostalgic... December is sooo empty this year... First year without LOTR, it is hard... But I have GREAT memories... - I remember that for FOTR and TTT, my brother and I arrived one hour before the beginning of the movie to be the very first in the queue to have the best seats in the theater... and people asked us "for how long have you been waiting here?" - I also remember all those people in the theater, coming for that such great movie and so great story ! i was so proud to love it... And it's moved me... (it can be strange to understand, i know) - And i remember the premiere of ROTK at OO.OO o'clock, i was with 5friends, as crazy as me of LOTR, we arrived 2hours before the beginning, we drove the stewards of the theater completly mad... They told us, "do not run in the escalators to go to the room!" and guess what we did ? We ran... The room was full, and the atmosphere was great !!
seriously, these movies changed my life... They were soooo great... I've met such wonderful people because of it... And that's also why i come here

Well these movies made had a lot of good impacts. For one without LOTR, I would have never have met my best friend and become so close with my other two friends. And I love how they pulled me in and got me obsessed and it let me look forward to the movies as they came out. And I will always remember the first time I saw ROTK, it was great. It was the first movie that ever made me cry lol. It also got me to love the actors. Without it I would have never have known who Elijah or Dom or any other of the actors are and It made me realize what great actors they really are. And of course without LOTR, I would have never would have found this site and met all you wonderful people

Oh, I just thought of another great LOTR related memory. When ROTK came out on DVD in May, we were really tight financially (we always have to be careful with our money but things were especially tight then for reasons I won't bore you with ). We did not have any extra money to buy the DVD. We had not seen it in the theator and were "dying" to see it. Anyway, our three sons emptied their piggybanks and came up with enough money to buy the DVD. I remember them sitting at the table counting every penny and hoping they would have enough money if they put all their money together. They had almost exactly enough (I think we helped out with a dollar or two). Our whole family went to K-mart to buy it together. So actually. our ROTK DVD belongs to my three sons but they graciously allow their Dad, two sisters and me to watch it, too.

Rose, that is so sweet! I love reading about your children, they seem so loving and nice.
My best memories of LOTR are just the excitement of going to see it in the cinema the night it came out and me and my friends staying up really late afterwards talking about it.
LOTR also 'introduced' me to Elijah, who introduced me to the Smashing Pumpkins who have affected my life SO much.
Also, joining this forum and meeting everyone here

 Thanks Taf!
