Yes, I am aware that Peter is scheduled to film The Lovely Bones next. I wasn't expecting The Hobbit to be his next project. So, that doesn't discourage me in any way regarding the prospects of him taking on the challenges posed by filming The Hobbit.

I am very angry that Time Warner didn't bid high enough to out bid Sony for the purchase of MGM!! Now the distribution rights belong to Sony, and the rights to make the film belong to Peter Jackson, who I presume, would like to make The Hobbit with New Line (Time Warner).
WHAT A MESS!!
On top of all of that, The Hobbit needs to be made before Sir Ian McKellen has a hard time looking the same, if not younger, than he does in the LOTR. No, Gandalf doesn't have to look younger, but he mustn't look older, you know.

|
Thanks for your "two cents" Yeux! It's similar to what I wrote on the last page. But, I believe that Peter owns the right to make the film. I read in the same article that said Sony won the bid last year, that he could choose to make it with Sony and forgo all of the complications of working with two studios. BUT I don't think he will abandon New Line like that. They took a big chance on him in the beginning.

I kinda have my heart set on it, Yeux! I really want this movie to be made, and I want it to be at least as good as the trilogy. If Peter can make some aspects of it better, then more power to him! And, yes, New Line is amazing! They deserve to be a part of this project if/when it gets done.
Let's go to the Prayer thread and start a prayer campaign for The Hobbit to be made!!!

Yeux! I'm very confused now. I have seen an article that says that Peter Jackson owns the right to make The Hobbit, AND, I have seen an article that says that New Line owns the right to make it. I can only find one of them, but I am positively sure I read the other one also.
Anyway, I sure hope Peter owns it because, not only would New Line have a problem working things out with Sony, but now Peter is suing New Line over profits from FOTR and, possibly, the rest of the trilogy.
I repeat, WHAT A MESS!!!

Here's some news about the making of THE HOBBIT
http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,12523941%255E1702,00.html
But I don't know. somehow I have this fear that what if this film doen't turn out to be as good as LOTR because most of the time a sequel/prequel doesn't turn out to be as good as expected just like The Matrix trilogy. I hope I may be proved wrong by Mr. Jackson.

Funny, I was watching some of that new Star Wars hype on TV, seeing how the Star Wars obsession keeps living on. And then I remembered, Peter is making The Hobbit! I think it's going to be fantastic. More familiar to me to watch than Lord of the Rings by far, because I've read The Hobbit twice and I've only read Lord of the Rings after I saw the movies. This one's going to be very close to me.

I'm wondering, will they be able to make Ian Holm look young enough to be a believable Bilbo in the past? Because he's getting old. Other than that, I have no doubt that if they have regular cast people (and good new ones of course) this movie will be amazing!!
