I wil do my best.
Is there anyone to write to as well? I've heard that (stone age sensibilities!) hardcopy letters are sometimes taken more seriously...

Do not speak to us of the greatness of poetry, Of the torches wisping in the underground, Of the structure of vaults upon a point of light. There are no shadows in our sun, Day is desire and night is sleep. There are no shadows anywhere.

Thanks again, seven, and you are right... hard copy does make a difference. I'm really glad you asked this question, because there are names and addresses on the petition itself, but some of those have changed since the petition was written. Petitiononline has just enabled petition admins like myself to add updates to their original petitions, and I am working on one right now. It will include the current names and addresses of studio heads to whom letters should be addressed. Please look for the names and addresses there in the update notice later today or early tomorrow.

I will Make sure to sign it too. I truely feel that PJ will eventually do this. He's awesome. I shall hope and pray on it. The Hobbit is my FAV of all time Book. More than LOTR. But The LOTR Movies are my Fav of all time Movies. I hope they get somebody REALLY Good to play Bilbo. Ian would be nice, but I'm sure they'll get somebody younger. Hope he's as cute as Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry ^_^ heheh. I think THE HOBBIT Would be a smash at the Box Office! Every seat would be sold out on Opening night I gaurentee that. I'd be one of the people in the front row SOLD seats

Wanted to let you folks in on the big campaign to get The Hobbit Petition up to 50,000 signatures. There have been about 2000 signatures added in the past two weeks, since I ran into Calisuri from TOR.n at ELF and we had a chat - he went back and posted a story about the Let The Hobbit Happen campaign and petition, and boom! lots more sigs lately.
Once we hit 50,000 (or even sooner, if it works better for my work/travel schedule), the petition will be printed out in three hard copies and hand delivered to New Line, MGM/UA and Sony, hopefully with media coverage. We currently have nearly 36,800 signatures, so if yours isn't on there yet, or you have family and friends you can get to sign, please give them the link now! And thanks, everyone, for your support. I do believe it is just a matter of time, but I think we can have an impact on that time and the quality of the film, just as we did with LOTR.
Here's the link: http://www.petitiononline.com/hobfilm/petition.html
Happy signing!

Yeah, saw that. Wonder who the spy is and if he/she can be trusted.
I believe it will happen. But we will just have to wait to see if NL makes any announcements.
In the meantime, the Petition marches on, and so do my plans.

Just received this info in an email from The One Ring.net ---
Source: Variety (via comingsoon.net): In a Variety article talking about MGM's move back into the tentpole business, the trade mentions a few highly-anticipated projects that are in the works:
'Over the next few years, MGM is planning to release half a dozen films, some in the $150 million to $200 million-plus range. Studio is ready to unveil such high-profile projects as "Terminator 4"; one or two installments of "The Hobbit," which Sloan hopes will be directed by Peter Jackson; and a sequel to "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan.
It has already announced a "Pink Panther" sequel and the next 007 pic "Bond 22," due out in November 2008. "Rocky Balboa" unspools in February.
The pics are all franchises that MGM owns the rights to through its 4,000-title library. The goal is to release two or three tentpoles a year, all of which will be made with financial partners, including Wall Street money or other studios.'

Whoa! I don't know whether to be glad or sad... or whether to think we have enough of the story to really know what's happening. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

In the Sept. issue of Entertainment, there is a short page about what PJ is going to take on for future projects, speculating that MGM and New Line, if they can get it together, they both are sending signals that Peter Jackson would be the best choice to direct the HOBBIT. It basically didn't give anything new except that Peter Jackson would love to do it if asked. So ........ we'll see! Things are sounding positive.
