Ok. Thanks to a quick search this seems to be what happened.
Copter filming movie crashes in Iowa field, killing 1
Walford, Iowa, July. 1
(AP): A helicopter being used to film scenes for a movie crashed, killing one person and critically injuring two others, authorities said.
The helicopter crashed just before 1 p.m. (2330 IST) yesterday, said Jim Saunders, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
Federal Aviation Administration officials in Kansas City said the helicopter, a Bell 206, may have crashed because of a "wire strike."
The Gazette newspaper reported on its Web site that the helicopter was filming a parade for the movie "The Final Season," starring Sean Astin and Powers Booth, about a high school baseball team.
Witnesses said the helicopter was carrying the pilot, a producer and a photographer when it hit power lines and crashed into a field about 16 kilometers southwest of Cedar Rapids, the newspaper reported.
The photographer, Roland Schlotzhauer, 50, of Lenexa, Kansas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Benton County sheriff's office. Pilot Richard Green, 72, and producer Tony Wilson, 49, both of Iowa, were hospitalized in critical condition last night.
The helicopter was contracted through Ri Tel Copter Services Inc. in Hudson. A woman who answered the telephone at the company said a family member was piloting the aircraft and declined to comment.
"The Final Season" is based on the real life story of the 1991 Norway High School baseball team. It is being directed by David Mickey Evans, who also directed the "The Sandlot".

Oh yeah that'd make you look stressed.
I personally (as i never get to go to these things) believe that he has a good reason for not making ELF.
We just have to look at it from another angl and ask how many other actors contribute so much time to go to Cons in the first place.

I got to see Lij yesterday - he looked fantastic and his hair has grown a bit. Will tell more later with more pics! Have to go.

I'm sorry. I fell asleep last night before I explained. I thought everyone knew by now.
Sean's ok, but it is still an upsetting thing, especially considering the entire Sean and safety thing. I was just thinking that Elijah might have heard about it.
He definately looks better with more hair.

Oh my gosh! Shiredrops those are beautiful, really. Thank you. And there are more? *sets up a tent* I'll be waiting.  These are just gorgeous, and especially that first one is lovlier than lovely!
And Shiredrops, would it be alright if I used these pics for making icons, etc? I'd be sure and credit you but I obviously wanted to ask permission first. So, could I?

I was going to post some more pictures but honestly ...they're the same as everyone else's!
Elijah was lovely. He was so patient with everyone. I waited 6 hours to get my autograph and in that time he'd only taken a half hour break for his lunch! He's so petite in real life and his eye lashes are incredibly long - he kept on peering up through them as he signed! 
This pic is a bit crappy but I thought you might be interested to see it. Elijah snuck out the back during his lunch break for a cigarette (you couldn't smoke inside) and as Practically Magic and I needed a break ourselves, we spotted him at the other end of the building! We now officially consider ourselves to be Elijah stawkers! The big guy with the long dark hair to the right is Chewy from Starwars!
