About smoking... again. « on: October 14, 2008, 09:33:40 am » I know, I know... it's his choice and there's nothing that we should do... just close this thread if you think you should... I don't know if it should be here either. But I just read this article in a newspaper where the results of a research were published. There is compared information of the smoking and non smoking men who are living or dead. It's obvious that smoking is bad for your health in many ways, but in the article it read that smoking through whole life can shorten a male's lifespan expectation even with 10 years, which is indeed a lot. And it makes you think. I don't know if Elijah smokes right now but at least he has tried to quit (he did'nt succeed back then) and he definitely does'nt recommend it to anyone. If he still smokes and wants to try quitting again all I say is that he needs all the encouragement for quitting as possible. I don't want 10 years off his life, or any other person's whose role model he is. Josh... what have you done. My dad's been a smoker for probably about ... 10-12 years himself and I have tried everything humanly possible to get him to stop, or at least cut back on it, and he hasn't been able to. I understand why my father smokes though, considering I live in the same house. I wouldn't pressure him into quiting right now, but I know for certain that after we move into the city next year, I'm definitely going to have that on the top of my priorities list. I don't want him to end up getting cancer, after all. That would be terribly awful. It's not good that Elijah smokes, either. I'm sure it's probably not easy to cut such a habit though with the kind of job that he has since it's most likely stressful to have to travel so often and not have much free time; poor guy. You'd think there would be some way to stop that kind of addiction ... something that had similar affects on each person that used it. I wonder if his lotr cast friends tried to help him quit? Does any of the mods know? I imagine they may have. Everyone has bad habits but everyone is capable of ending those habits. Re:About smoking... again. « Reply #4 on: October 18, 2008, 09:59:12 am » I don't have anyone in my close family who smokes so Elijah came first in my mind.... But it's clear that lungs or your other body can't take it because it just is'nt natural. If I remember this right the reason for it was that because your body becomes addicted to nicotine it starts replacing oxygen with it. So without the lost oxygen, all the physical work you do gets harder. Including exercise. And that's not the only effect it has. It causes cancer, lesser chances to get children etc. It makes you wonder what made it possible that cigarettes are a legalized drug. Because that's what I call it. Re:About smoking... again. « Reply #6 on: December 17, 2008, 11:58:27 am » if elijah woods does not give up his nasty habit he can develop very nasty tumors and lung cancer. his lungs should be pink and not gray, poor elijah is a chair smoker. snook smoked for 43 years and her abnormal growths but elijah has time to change the course of his future and live a healthy life with spotted lungs, instead of suffering from brochi infecions like jose. He should try to quit now, not when he has any of these diseases: cancer(not only in the lungs; it can be in the bladder,tongue, throat) asthma, high blood pressure (yes, smoking can raise it), impotence (it can decrease the production of sperm), heart disease. If Lij  is willing do it, he will success.
