Awesome interview! Some tidbits we haven't come across before. ROFL about Viggo leaving him a message as a German soldier. They are all so amazingly funny and cool together (referring to the LOTR cast). May the Fellowship carry on forever.
Love the actresses he mentioned, especially Zooey and Evan Rachel Wood. (Scarlett and Natalie are wonderful too but better well known).
One young actress whose career reminds me of Elijah's and whom I think is brilliant is Sarah Polley. I would love for them to work together! They both grew up as child actors and have amazingly expressive faces. Sarah is also a director, which is something Elijah would like to get into.

What has she done, I'm curious? Both as an actor and director... she sounds vaguely familiar.

Hi Seven --
Sarah is a Canadian actress only a couple years older than Elijah (January 8, 1979 is her birthdate, I think). She started acting when she was really young in projects like Terry Gilliam's The Adventures of Baron Mauchenhausen. I became a fan of hers when she played Sara Stanley on Road to Avonlea on the Disney Channel (she didn't like the role that much but she was still great).
Sarah was also in The Sweet Hereafter with Ian Holm, ExistenZ, Go! with Katie Holmes, Dawn of the Dead, and Life Without Me. One of her newest movies is Beowulf and Grendel, with Gerard Butler, which I think was playing at TIFF. I'm less familiar with the movies she directed so far.
Although she seems more world weary and cynical than Elijah (LOL), she reminds me of Elijah in terms of her wiser-than-her years intelligence, and the sense that acting is only one aspect of her creative life.

Impressive filmography! Some definite duds, but also some really good stuff. And I see she's got a part in that "Beowulf" movie... most cool.
