What?! Only one vote for the unparalleled Anne Rice?!?!?! She is most DEFINITELY at the TOP of my list!
I used to read alot of John Grisham (in high school,) and who doesn't love Shakespere? Like the rest of the country, I was forced to read 'The Great Gatsby' in school, but I really liked it, so F.Scott Fitzgerald can be on the list for now, and Terry Moore, who writes and draws a comic called 'Strangers In Paradise.' I put him on the list cuz they really are more like graphic novels when you get them in trade paperback.
Other than Ms. Rice being numero uno, the others are in no specific order. If anyone needs some Anne Rice reccomendations, just ask, I've read most of the original Vampire Chronicles, all three books in the Mayfair Witches series, the Sleeping Beauty trilogy, and I am slowly getting through 'The Feast of All Saints.'

And here's the list...
1. Terry Pratchett 2. Douglas Noel Adams 3. Kurt Vonnegut 4. Agatha Christie (that woman can WRITE!) 5. J.K. Rowling
A small range for me: fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and Vonnegut. I don't really think you can put Vonnegut into any category, mostly because he's written an autobiography, essays, sci-fi, fiction, a parody and other stuff I'm sure. So he gets his own category.
PRATCHETT ROCKS THE HIZOUSE!!!!

This was more difficult than I thought... I'll probably change my mind after I post my list. Oh well. I annoy myself changing my mind all the time.
1. Shakespeare 2. Michael Ondaatje (such a fluidity in his writing, so captivating .. it paralyzes me) 3. Jane Austen 4. Douglas Adams 5. Bret Easton Ellis
