I'm doing my coursework on this for English Lit- comparing it with Wilfred Owens' war poems *Yes!*- and just wondered if ayone else had read it? What do people think? Favourite bits, best character? Ooh- and I want his new book 'Human Remains'. Anyone read that 'cos it's £16 which quite a bit of money really if I'm not sure it's good or not!

I'm reading it for English Lit too. Though, I've not read it in a while, because I have 5 books on the go atm (4 are English lit books) so it's going very slowly.
I'm expected to finish it by 7th November. Hah! Very unlikely that this will happen.

However, what I've read so far, I've enjoyed. I'm about a quarter of the way in.

You got to the war yet? I hated the beginning- so pointless- but the war sections are great. Slightly gory, but I like that kinda thing. Lol. I went and got another of his from the library too- charlotte grey.

Jack has just been let off for sleeping while tunneling.
So yeah, just into the war bit.

I quite enjoyed the first part, but it did make me a little confused. "I thought this was about the war.... " lol

UUUUUGH!!  This is one of my fave books of all time!  I loved it!  I used to walk around the tube stations reading it, people didn't like me much, strange...
