I'm reading it for English Lit too. Though, I've not read it in a while, because I have 5 books on the go atm (4 are English lit books) so it's going very slowly. I'm expected to finish it by 7th November. Hah! Very unlikely that this will happen.
However, what I've read so far, I've enjoyed. I'm about a quarter of the way in.

Jack has just been let off for sleeping while tunneling. So yeah, just into the war bit.
I quite enjoyed the first part, but it did make me a little confused. "I thought this was about the war.... " lol

UUUUUGH!! This is one of my fave books of all time! I loved it! I used to walk around the tube stations reading it, people didn't like me much, strange...
