Quote from: tafika on September 14, 2004, 03:12:05 am I love Harry Potter. But only the first 4 books. It seems now that Rowling's train of thought is: "I'm so rich. Yeeee. Oh, new book? Hmm, how to make it good? I know!! Make it LONGER than the last one!! How original of me!" Sorry, but the only thing good about the 5th book was the last few chapters with the explanation of the whole Harry Vs Voldemort thing. There was too much build up for me. OK, I like build up... but not so much that it can be split up into four bloody books in its self!! GAH! I really hope the next one will be better.

i loved the 5th book. most ppl that i've talked to liked the 5th book better than all the others, as did i. i thought what u said about number 5 kinda went for number 4. number 4 was soooooo long (i know 5 was longer... but it seemed like more happened.) and i thought number 4 didn't get interesting until the end and that dude... his name starts with a C... dies.
but, yeah... Harry is getting very moody towards everyone... but i don't think it's spose to b hormones, my guess is that the scar is starting to affect him... and "voldermort's mark" is begining to make itself more known. he obviously has a connection with him... since he could see what his snake was doing. ... maybe harry's gonna go corrupt and start working with voldermort. ... ya never kno.

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

Fair enough. I can see why you would feel this way. And I like to see other people's opinions. As mine was mine. My Auntie made me laugh... she borrowed the 5th from me, and she said that she didn't get past the 2nd chapter cos she was bored with it. lol But she did read that bit with the news, where there is a budgie in Barnsley that's learnt to water-ski or something. She thought that was pretty cool. Cos she was raised in Barnsley (She lives in Scotland now) and I still live there.
That is so cool though. That Barnsley is mentioned in such a huge book!! It was also cool in "Prisoner of Azkaban" cos WaggaWagga (Australia) was mentioned, and one of my best friends lives there.
I think the 3rd and the 4th books were the best ones.

Personally, the 2nd and 3rd were my favorites.
War and Peace is a book I could never bring myself to read. Also trashy novels, westerns, and I don't know. But when I'm checking out a book, the cover has to look interesting. You sort of can tell a book by its cover in my opinon.

i loved number 3! it was great! oddly enough, though... several of my friends that liked number 5... hated number 3! they said it was just a background book... i seem to like the books better if somthing bad is happeneing to harry... ex: demontors... umbridge (which, by the way, that word means "excessive power" i thought that was really cool... but i'm a geek ) my faves are... in order of faves... : 5, 3, 2, 4, 1. i didn't really care for number 1. it WAS just a background book (or so it seemed) and there was a 2 wk period (in the book at least) where nothing happened.
maybe if i read 4 again, i'd like it better. i've only read it about 1.5 times. i need to read 4 and 5 again.
Ahh! i have to go do hw! bye!

Toni Morrison. I'm sorry, but that woman bores me to death -- and it's not easy to do that! I thrive on literary challenge.
Oh yes, and anything more by Robert Jordan. I will not reward someone for writing bloated 800-page books where nothing happens except recurring personal twitches and whines.

I will never read a book by John Grisham. Boring lawyer-type books, yuck!
I will probably never read or try to read Dickens again, as I couldn't get through any of his books without falling asleep.
I don't like romance novels, but I do enjoy a good cheesy detective novel now and then.

Thanks for the beautiful siggie and icon, Deenan!

We would read it next year. My friend has already read it. And he says it's interesting. But tastes differ. Simple I must read it because I'm Russian.
I don't know. maybe if Britney Spears will write the book I will never read it!
P.S. No, I know worse book - religious book of any sect!
