Like with the whole cloning issue, you never know exactly what you're going to get, and we as humans let our curiousity get the best of us. It doesn't warn us so much against science, but of the people who wield it. the scientist is so consumed by the fact that he knows how to make a human creature, that he doesn't stop to consider the morality and the aestatics of it, doesn't think of the consequences. Also, he didn't really care about what he had created and his creation took revenge on him. that's another warning from Mary Shelley.(?) Don't you think Frankensteins monster is a bit like the atomic bomb? Nice point.  I noticed the theme of the rape of nature, the way Frankenstein bypasses the natural order of things when he creates the Monster. Frankenstein and Robert Walton are so obsessed with glory its scary how selfish they are, you're right. People were afraid of him even though he was quite gentle because he looked like a monster. Victor couldn't have changed that. People were just quick to judge because of his appearance.
