It feels a lot better!
well spoke to a immigration expert for free in queenstown.Because IT is on the short term skilled list Mark would have to have Qualifications or show how he has experience equivalent to Qualifications. Also he would have to sponsor me which means proving how we have been living together and actually a married couple and would need tenancy agreements etc bank statements photos and other stupid stuff
plus the school would have to prove how they could not offer a kiwi the job even if they offered training.
the easiest way to stay here would be if we both found jobs and were sponsored separately and not as a couple.
we could of had a visa in 5 days and would only cost $400!!
A shame but guess is not meant to be

OK, I think I understand. Thanks for explaining.
All I can say is, make the most of the time you have there, and get out and do all the things you want to!

Sounds good Elizabeth, I suppose it's a big weight off your mind once you have a plan and know what you're doing! What kind of work will you be doing there?

Ugh...don't you just hate all the regulations of working in another country. I totally understand your frustrations. However, on the brighter side, how great it is that you can both enjoy this experience together. Just imagine how lonley it would be if Mark was on his own. I bet he is REALLY glad you are with him...even if it means a little more paperwork.
Sounds like you are all set until after Christmas. Free wireless? Wahoo! Of course the free accommodations and food is important too. Wow...you have been in NZ for 5 months already??? Where did the time go...seems like you were just wrapping up things in UK not long ago. It will be interesting to see where you end up.
Did you hear anything about the LOTR job? I still think that would be a hoot...especially when the tourist came into town. Bet the business will start to pick up as they get closer to releasing The Hobbit.
This reminds me that I gotta catch up on your blog.

I'm fed up with this working holiday I cannot get work here, office work here has accounts/myob I can't do. If I have interviews I don't get the job. Prolly cos I too quiet I love NZ but starting to see a different side to the place, a side I don't like
We are off to Dunedin tomorrow booked in at a backpackers for 5 nights we want to get jobs there, but knowing my track record it'll be pointless me even trying

Ugh...job hunting is so frustrating, Liz. Hang in there. I know you will find the right one....it is just taking awhile. Dang...now I am sounding like my mother.
Are you looking for permanet work or temporary? Do they have anything like temporary agencies in NZ? If they do it helps because businesses can get to know you before making a permanent hiring decision.

I bet it is frustrating not being able to get a job you like. But hopefully you'll enjoy this one - and look on the bright side of life, you could be stuck in rainy UK with no job and instead you're on the other side of the world in summer!

We have been helping here at the B&B & Backpackers for nearly a week now. At the moment we are helping to manage the place as Joyce is in Christchurch but Louis her son is here so when he in he answers the phone to take bookings. We certainly seem to be working around 2 1/2 to 4 hrs a day then more if need to man the phone. Sometimes most of the day. Mark thinks we should get paid for it and they taking advantage I not so sure, I like to help.
We are thinking of moving on January 17th atm.
Tonight we will go to The Inch bar to meet up with Mel and Alan for a pint after their gig in The Ra. At least we have friends here which is always good.
I been a bit moody today dunno why prolly I got a bit fed up. Nt too bad now though. Keep checking the date getting closer to the 3rd December..

I'm glad you're enjoying helping out and things - but I agree with Mark, they should be paying you overtime, lol!
Have strength for Dec 3rd.
