Speech Impediments

Does anyone here have or used to have a speech impediment, like a stammer, lisp etc. I have a bit of a lisp, used to be worse when I was younger.

I used to have a really mild stammer, it stopped after about a year. My friend has a really bad stammer but he got help for it and that's what made me want to become a speech therepist.

I have a weird stutter thing taht i get when i'm nervous or reading something out loud in front of people (usualy when I'm thingking about what i'm saying, that's why i rarely think  )

I don't have one, but my cousin does. He stutters alot.
I ALWAYS lose my train of thought, though. That's not really a speech impediment, but it's embarrassing. Today in English I was answering a question and lost my train of thought, so I was talking about something that didn't really have to do with the question. Oh well, nobody was paying attention anyway. They were basically all sleeping.

I had/have a speech imepdiment where I cannot say my R's. They sound like W's. I was in speech therapy for five years from 1-5 grade, but I never graduated it because my parents never helped me at home. I sounded like a pirate for thirty minutes each week for five years. ARRRRR. My mother said she couldnt hear what was wrong since it was only like 40% of the time. So I had to stop speech therapy when I went to middle school. I was fine till I got older ( I'm in college now), and people correct me or make fun of it, so I get real self-conscious and think really hard about it, and make many more mistakes. It also hurts me when I try to speak French or Spanish. Grrr.

Did you say Grrr on purpose becuase it has R's in it? Or are you just Grrr-ing?
That stinks about being made fun of....I hate teasers. I got teased all through eighth grade because my arms were hairy. Hey, I'm Italian...Yeah, they would call me WolfGirl behind my back. My one "friend" even joined in. Wow, I've gone off topic, haven't I? Sorry, mods! Don't kill me.

I sometimes feel as if I have a speech impediment. Sometimes when I'm really tired, it's hard to form words. My tongue feels like lead. So I slur. It's really strange. I mostly only have noticed it since college. I don't really have problem speaking in front of others. I guess I just need more sleep.

Same here, it's definately decreased as I've become older. But the lisp is still slightly evident. I also talk really fast, which can make it quite difficult to understand at times. 
Oh, also when I was younger (in primary school) i used to say "r's" like "w's". For example, "wabbit" instead of "rabbit".

I had/have one kinda... yeah
When I was really young I had trouble with S's Sh's Z's R's L's and a light Boston accent (don't ask me why, I have no clue.) I went to therapy for a while in elementary school and fixed all but the S's and Sh's then went to middle school, hated the speach teacher and faked improvement so I could get out of there. So technically I still have a light muddled sound to my S's but no one seems to hear it (it's only really obvious on recordings.)
I used to get made fun of by this one girl but since only about five people have ever had the sand to make fun of me and she was the only one giving me problems at the time it didn't really get to me.

Lol, same! I got my g's and d's mixed up, so I would say "dod" instead of "dog". I had speech therapy for a while and it went away. It's weird, some people I meet for the first time notice my lisp straight away, and some don't notice at all.
The more time you spend with someone, the less you notice it. All my friends have told me that.

I used to when I was in kindergarten through 2nd grade... I couldn't say D's or G's at all.... I don't know why, but I couldn't...
And my little sister has Apraxia of Speech... She has been going to speech therapy 3 times a week for the past 3 years... She has to be in special ed classes because none of the teachers can understand her

I used to have a lisp, but it has gotten better sense some stupid speach teacher yelled at me about it...stupid bitchy teacher.

I used to have a lisp when I was younger. So did all of my friends, so I thought it was normal. A few of them still have lisps, but I think its normal so I just don't really pay attention.
One of my friends has a stammer. It's kind of irritating sometimes, but it isn't really that bad. It's not really noticeable. And it isn't her fault, so I'm not holding it against her.
I don't know if this counts, but one of my friends has a speech defect. She moved around European countries so much when she was younger (i.e. Greece, Norway, England, etc.) that she never really got a hold of her own accent. Now she kind of has a jumble of all of them and it's really fun to listen to her talk.
I like her accent/s...

Haha, sounds like the bus driver I had yesterday. Sometimes he sounded French, sometimes he sounded Arab....weird.

I used to have a bit of a lisp when I was younger too. I don't anymore though. I do still have problems saying a few words, like I just can't pronounce them properly. It's probably just my very very slight German accent. My voice actually sounds very English to me sometimes. Weird.
