Im not having a rave about mine but sometimes genuinly i hate them. Why dont they just let us grow up? I mean i know all about the we just want to protect you yadda yadda yadda But HELLO i mean a social life is just as important as being a swot (which im sad to say usually i am) and i never get allowed to go and meet my friends on a saturday night cos she doesnt trust them (And they say they trust me...But they dont) I know why because i had to protect my mate when she had a bad experience once and their afraid i ll do the same...But...GRRRR parents cant live with em cant live without!

If they genuinely believe that the people you want to meet are bad influences, then they have every right not to allow you to see them.  They are doing it to protect you, and it is probably better than the alternative (i.e. if they didn't care what happened to you or who influenced you).

If you disagree with their decision, maybe you could have those friends over to your house, so your parents could get to know them better?  If they're being judgmental and don't have any basis for their criticism, then it's up to you to show them that your friends are good people.

I agree.

Hopefully when you get older you will realise why your parents acted the way they do. I use to feel like that when I was a teen and to be honest, I hated my mother cause she wouldn't allow me to this or that...but after a while you know that your parents are only doing it cause they care for you and only want what is best.

I know the feeling, me and my best friend are the only ones who aren't going out, and so, I also have to sneak out.

Well, I would like to hear things from your parents' point of view; I am pretty sure they'd paint a different picture of the story.  And by sneaking out, you've proved that you're not trustworthy.  Maybe if you respected their opinions, they could learn to respect yours.

I don't know why that merits an "Lol" but that doesn't sound at all funny to me.  You were very close to a very dangerous situation, one that you weren't necessarily capable of handling yourself in.  You may not have been the victim that night, but it sounds as though you're associated -- directly or indirectly -- with some very corrupting people.

It sounds like your parents are doing the only sensible thing by forbidding you to see them.  From what you've said, it doesn't look like you've made any reasonable attempts to change your parents' minds.  You've done the immature and irresponsible thing by sneaking out.

If that abduction really was an isolated incident and you are sure that it could never happen again, then give your parents the benefit of the doubt and give them the chance to get to know your friends better.

see, I don't have thast problem becasue
a) I have only three friends
b) Dad's rarely home (and when he is he's sleeping)
c) Mam's to busy with my little brother and sister to even think about me. So I very rarely see her.

Oh I lead a perfect life.

i didnt mean to put lol there cos i was thinking about another night out (sorry if that was taken from the wrong way) I ve tried being sensible and im not friends with that girl anymore i only see her lessons. I know how they feel and i ve tried to talk them round and i even said they could escort me to a school disco and i still wasnt allowed. I do know how they feel but i just think they are being slightly over protective. they're slowly getting better but i just dont want to have to wait forever to have a life. Thats probably my problem though. Not theirs.

Yeah i dont have many friends. As i go through school, i stop speaking to more and more people.. until now, and i dont have many friends really, theres probably only 8 or 9 people that i'd class as a friend now. But i dont mind it that way, because i know that all of the people that i'm friends with are genuine people... (most people in my school are so fake)

anywayyy this was a post on parents so i'll add my part

i dont get that problem with parents much.. my mum and dad dont mind me going out, because i dont go out LOADS anyway

Heh heh, don't talk to me about parents. I think 14 is a really annoying age, you feel grown up but your parents still treat you like a child. I'm not allowed a boyfriend because of an incident with my older sister and now their paranoid the same thing will happen to me.

I'm still seeing him secretly thou, they think were just friends now. I know its wrong, but still I do it.

Yesterday my grandmom forgot to bring her car home with her.

Anyway, I had to lock the doors in it, and I didn't put shoes on, and my socks got dirty. My mom says to me today "I'm very disappointed that you didn't put shoes on yesterday." Weird.
