Whoa! I haven't heard of most of the bands you listed! I think I'll add them to my list of Bands to check out. (Its a VERY long list.)

Ok, heres some more bands:

Thursday- I guess they're a Emo band. But its not whiny and all depressing. Theres also alot of screaming, if you're ok with that. Full Collapse and War all the Time are the only cds I've heard by them. I like Full Collapse a little better. Heres their webisite if you want to check it out

Interpol- I can't say enough good things about them! They're kind of weird but if you like the Pixies you can appreciate them! They've had one CD out; Turn on the Bright Lights They're an Indie/art rock/post-punk band. They really remind me of an electronic 80's band. Heres their site: http://www.interpolny.com/

The Velvet Underground- A band from the 60's

The Strokes (You've probably heard of them) is another good band.

The White Stipes are another good band. I have Elephant. Its awesome. But you've probably heard of them as well.

Thats all i can think of.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the Pixies rock! Haha. Whats your favorite song? Mine's a tie between Bone Machine and I Bleed.

I really like Gigantic, sung by Kim Deal. It's urm, about her black boyfriend's big package, if you get my meaning. It's not immediately obvious listening to the song, but comes out after a few listens.

I don't care about the words as much as the sound.

Hey, you seem like a young 'un, so any newer bands like Interpol I'm glad to hear about. Seeing that I'm geriatric, I'll tell you about some older stuff and it'll be an even trade.

Good! You should really check them out! I think you'll like them.
And I think I'll check out some early David Bowie albums. I've heard a few from the Ziggy Stardust era and like them. And i really want to get a Cure cd as well.

Are there any other bands you can recommend?

Whoa, first a moomoo and now a mullet! If you show up wearing a wifebeater, I won't know what to think. Actually I can't think of any more for a while, but maybe you can check out some of those bands and let me know what you think.

We can come back and compare notes.

Edited to add: I downloaded some Interpol and Bright Eyes! I love them both! Thanks so much for the tips. By the way, I posted some new band choices over in "Little band noboby's heard of..." You should come over there! I also have some older posts that list my other music. Yeah, like I'm a guru but you know whatever

Cool, I'll got to that thread and check out the bands you listed.
I'm so glad you like them! I like the whole Interpol CD basically but my favorites are:
Obstacle 1
Say Hello to the Angels
Obstacle 2
Stella was a diver and she was always down
Roland
So if you haven't downloaded all of those, think about doing that!
But you are such the guru.

Interpol is awesome. i saw them in NYC back in October '03. such an amazing show. i've met Carlos a few times, since he DJ's at some of the clubs here. Interpol totally reminds me of 70's/80's post-punk bands like Joy Division or The Chameleons UK. and i like that.

btw, since is really a thread about the Pixies, my favorite Pixies songs are 'Here Comes Your Man' and 'Monkey Gone To Heaven.' i heard they were touring this spring, but i'm still waiting to hear about East Coast dates. Frank Black's solo stuff is really cool, too. 'Teenager Of The Year' and 'The Cult Of Ray' were excellent albums.

That's great! I wish I could see one of their shows.
I don't see too much resemblance between Joy Division and Interpol though. Maybe thats just me.
Edit: I have a Interpol thread as well, if anyone wants that one dug up.
