Traditional Irish Music Anyone?

Hey! I took classical violin lessons for 6 years and the past 3 years I've used that training in just playing fiddle music, especially Iriah and Scottish. Anyone else have a story like that or interested in that type of music?

I love Irish music. It's the only thing i enjoyed playing when i played the flute. I loved celtic flute music and i wanted to become a professional celtic flute player for a while too. But i droped my flute, i was trained as a classical musician for 8 years, if i had been playing only celtic flute for 8 years i probablly wouldn't of droped it

And I'll keep digging, till I feel something.

Irish music is generally quite beautiful. i don't really do anything related to or involving it myself, but I've got a friend who's been doing Irish dancing for years now. it's very complicated but it looks great when she does it.

I used to play the Bodhrán but as i have no natural rhythm I stuck with the tin whistle. My friend plays the harp and the flute, damn her talent.

There's this great Irish celtic/japanese flute player named Ron Korb, whom i am a big fan of. He's from Toronto and i have three of his cds. I highly doubt it, but if you ever see one of his cds in a shop, pick it up
Check out his website: http://www.ronkorb.com/

WHOO-HOO! I love U2. Heard of Helicon or Bonnie Rideout? they are definetly my favourite folk music performers! My sister even took hamered dulcimer (its a celtic instrument) lessons from a guy in Helicon so we know them personally.
