Controversial thread

I noticed that Rose created a poll in the Miscellaneous section of the forum, which addressed an issue that some may consider to be "controversial". I was about to post in it, but it had been locked. I know that she locked it herself, but I'd just like to refer you to an announcement that Harmonica (an administrator) made last August.

I'm very much interested in the outcome of that poll, and would thus like to encourage Rose, or a moderator to unlock it. There does not have to be a "preventative" cure for this kind of issue. Hopefully members will act in a mature fashion, and not break the rule of the forum. If it gets out of hand, it can be locked. Simple.
We don't have to prevent an expression of ideas, because some people might debate about it.

Thanks, Sarah, for being interested in the poll. I really would like to kow what people think but personally, though I like hearing other's thoughts and opinions, I hate debates. No one ever changes their mind and there are always hard feelings. I have yet to see a religious debate here that stayed friendly and resectful by everyone involved. However, I would very much know to hear the outcome of the poll, too.
Mods, what do you think? I don't want to unlock it if it will cause headaches and problems for you. If the mods think it is okay to unlock it, I will.

I totally agree, you girls.. if you want to go ahead, then do it. I didn't lock the thread, I was merely commenting in it. I guess, I said what I said, because I've seen my fair share of worse debates and out right nastiness on this board that I don't wish to deal with. And as moderators, we're the ones who have to deal with it. Not the members.

Alright. Here's the deal. I've posted something in the moderator's forum about this asking the others what they think. Don't worry they'll soon find out about it. Actually, I don't really care if it remains locked or what, because my intentions weren't to lock it anyway!
And if it turns nasty...well, I hope I won't be around to deal with it.  But I have let the other mods know about this so they'll know what to expect. So, if you want to unlock go ahead, I never really said no in the first place, but only stated my views.

Thankyou guys so much for even considering my view! Rose, I was just so dissapointed to see such an interesting poll locked, before it even had a chance to blossom.
I agree one hundred percent that it should be locked if it turns nasty. Let's just hope that people can be respectful.

 Ok I just have to comment because I feel so happy about reading your messages in this thread. Sarah, Rosie and Solskie, you were all so honest and respectful at the same time and came to a decision that everyone's happy with. It would be so great if everybody in the world could talk to each other like that.
