Locked threads

I'm not sure if my question warrants a new thread - if not please feel free to delete it - but I noticed that there are a lot of locked threads in the Elijah section, and I was just wondering what happens to them. I'm just really curious..

They fade away and fall down the page...
Actually, I think they are moved to the archive section, right?

It's not only the case in the Elijah section. Actually, we have decided to lock threads that are older as six months. We did this to prevent that people are dragging up old threads without there being any new information.
And no, we're not moving them to the archive. They just remain where they are.

I think it's a good idea to lock them after 6 months of inactivity. Wouldn't it make sense to also delete them in that case?
