Um.. perhaps have an online scavenger hunt.. But i'm not too sure how that's going to work. Er.. I'm not too good with this kinda stuff.

This is a good idea, making a thread about how to improve the board, I mean. Hmm what ever happened to The Hotseat? Maybe bring that back or something similar?

A few of the boards I'm on have things like sig of the month, member of the month, quote of the day... things like that.

we have challenges for fan art
Why not do challenges for other things so that people who aen't so good at the art get a chance to compete? for example: poetry, rambles (short stories I guess? also called drabbles?), caption contests are always fun, maybe a contest where someone starts a story and members have to finish it? the best finish wins?
We have some talented writers on here who I'm sure would love a chance to compete and show off what they do.

Manda & I are currently working on a Fan Creativity short story contest. Jochen is making us a subdomain of ejwsites.net, and when that's ready we'll get the contest started!

I think the first thing we should try is to encourage people to post more. I notice that a lot of people are just reading and not really contribute. This may discourage people to post anything cause they don't get any feedback.
What happened to the fanfic of the month? Why not start that again?
A real writing contest would be fun as well. Give people a topic and ask them to write a short story.

All of the judges have become to busy with other things. We've died down to 2 judges, and after we post the results for this month - we're done. Judging was fun (for me) while it lasted.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to be a judge. I've got nothing better to do with my time... (Stuck at home with the kid and all  )
I like the story competition ideas.

I like the idea of starting up The Hotseat again. I never really got the chance to get into it. (I was shy at the time )
Also, more challenges are good as well. I agree with Vixen, get new judges! Whee!

I agree with Vixen, fan fic of the month was a pretty cool thing and it made us look after the winning story...
Looking after new judges... that's good too ...
Doing a contest or voting for them ... like democracy... I don't know ... it'd be fun

make that 2 geeks littlehalfling...languages sound nice to me too .
for the rest....canna really think of anything. More smilies is a cliché by now, and probably won't solve much.
how about a story where everyone writes about 8 lines, and you just keep going.... (no this might not make a coherent /logical/serious story, but it's always fun. for me. but i'm easily amused by madness.)
