No offence or anything but when people write like that it just pisses me off. Whatís the point in it? You donít talk like that, why write like that?
and if you're trying to use it as decoration or to make it stand out I don't think anyone has much objection to diffirent colours...see? all pretty.

Spam stands for short, pointless, annoying messages.
AHA! That makes much more sense. I kept thinking of email spamming... yeah, I was confused. Thanks for clearing that up!!

EDIT: Yoko, is that question out of curiousity or do you really want to type like that all the time? Lol. If you began typing in that fashion, someone would probably PM you and ask you to stop doing it in every post. If you kept at it, yes, your posts would be modified or deleted (depending on the mood of the person ).

I'd never type like that, it's so annoying just to size it right. Actually, that question just popped into my head, since they were talking about the way you can type and stuff. So thanks for clearing up my question.

LOL Tiff. I didn't catch that. For shame, I was just reading 1984 a few weeks ago... Winston is like, the coolest, omg.

Yoko - No problem!

Floydian - I actually didn't know S.P.A.M. was an acronym until a few months ago. Someone probably made up what the initials stand for, but ah, well, it works well for the forum.

If you PM a member of staff to remind them of your notification, your post count will increase substantially (perhaps to 1000).

I believe you mean decreased, not increased.

And yes, the mic is still on.

No, I meant increase.   What I didn't say is that your post count requirement would increase; that was the typo.

We want members to post their notifications and leave it at that -- i.e. no PMs to say, "Hurry up, please!" or "Why haven't you granted me access yet?"  We won't have done it 1) because we haven't had the time to fully check you out; or 2) we're not convinced of your age.  If a member harasses staff to grant her access, we won't consider her again until her post count reaches 1000.

Ah, okay, I see.  I thought you meant that you would decrease their post count if they continued.  But this is cool too.

The slash issue has been settled.  All posts relating to slash have been split out of this thread and locked.  If members wish to continue the debate, please PM Vadas or noraloveslij, or any of the mods if you do not like the new policy.

The new policy being:  only fictional depictions will be allowed.

Thanks.

Any questions about OTHER board rules or policies are still encouraged.

In the light of this most recent "copyright" infringement issue, I'd suggest the following rule applying to all forums:

Posting images/links to images: Before you post images on this forum, please note that, due to the nature of the internet, it is very likely that the images in question will be saved, copied, and maybe redistributed elsewhere. So, please only post images/links that, to your best knowledge, aren't restricted in that way. On the other hand, if you get across images/links that contain or refer to material violating the copyright law, please inform one of the forum mods (in case it's on the forums) or the author of the respective news entry (in case it's on the A+F main site). We cannot be held responsible for actions done by our members, particularly in cases where you would say images you posted weren't meant to be further spread! In that case, do NOT share them here.

Hmm. Interesting, without a doubt.

Well, if feedback is still the aim of this topic, and if anyone actually cares about my opinion, here's what I think:

I frequent many boards and this, in my opinion, is run the best. I haven't had to sift through endless spam threads. Y'all are fairly strict. But not too strict. Which is a flippin' wonderful thing. Basically, I'm a fan of the moderating and administrating team at A+F. Rooting for y'all at least.

I had an idea. Now that the rule for the Adult forum is 100 posts and everyone has to be reviewed... why don't you have someone dedicated to just that? I mean you guys seem too busy to deal with that. I just know there's some people <coughs> who would like to be invited to the Adult forum, and meet the requirements... But hey, it's just a thought. <Note: I'm not angry. I can wait. I just thought maybe other people feel the same... I guess it would be fair to everybody... less stress on you guys and for those who want access, well, they hopefully get it faster...> I love you guys!

I fully agree with what Vixen says. It would make things a lot easier for the mods if they don't have to care about checking out people's posting history to give them access. And members who have reached 100 posts can send a pm to a dedicated person and if there's any doubt about the age, that person can still ask the mods for advice.

I would keep the 100 posts as a general rule though, just to be safe.

It's actually not as time-consuming as you might think; the majority of people who requested access were granted it immediately.

A new notification thread will soon be made to allow members to inform the entire global team that you wish to access the forum.  Unless we spot something shady about you, you'll be granted access.

Unfortunately, there are technical problems associated with having one person assigned to granting access.  Only moderators on the global team (MysteriousMrWood, Galadriel, Laura, Miss Hazy, HerMajesty, and I) grant access, and we can't have one person adopting all the responsibility.  It's sometimes only through a feedback process between staff members that we discover a member's "true" age -- we often want feedback from other staff in the uncertain cases.  An individual mod/admin can be wrong and might not know it if she does the job herself.

Delegating the responsibility to a new person, however, wouldn't help our situation much, as they'd have have no experience doing our detective work, and we'd have much less control in who is granted access.  Also, only global moderators/admins have the power to change people's profiles -- we'd have to add someone to the global team, and at this time, no positions are available.

The new notification thread will expedite the process, I think.

Ah, I didn't think about that. I like the notification thread, though.
