Fanfic Recognition - PLEASE REPLY

I was just wondering how the next idea would suit all you guys, the members of EWFN fanfiction...

What if there was 1 person who, every month, gives her opinion about a certain story (fanfic of the month, if you will) and why this would be a good story to read. Every month a different story. And this might even be combinable with the author of the month, I now realise...

Mind you, I'm NOT talking about stories we're ALL reading, but the more unknown stories, from the newer writers.
I feel those people don't get enough attention, and there ARE a few VERY talented writers among them.
Would any of you consider this to be a good idea?

Please reply if you like the idea, or totally don't like the idea, and state your opinion. THANKS.

What do you mean by:  "the members of EWFN fanfiction".  We're not EWFN here.  We're A&F!

Anyway...  A good idea.

Maybe not 1 person though.  It would be hard to find just one person for the job concidering i'm sure alot of people here would like that job.  It would be more fair for everyone if we either had a "pannel" of judges where there is a group who have the job or maybe we just have every month the option that anyone who wants to has to rate certain fanfics and then everyone who has read the fictions then votes for their favourite.  Or something?

I'm not sure but a good idea.  Thanks for sharing.

Lol, Lj, I was wondering the same thing about 'EWFN'..That's okay, Petra, we forgive you

I think it's a good idea! I also like Lj's suggestion about panels.

GOOD GOD!!!
Sorry about that, I must have had my head in the clouds somewhere!!! OFCOURSE THIS IS THE A&F.. SORRY GUYS...
Anyhow.. yeah, LJ, a pannel would be good too. You mean a couple of members of this board that 'come together' and discuss the best fanfic they want to share with the rest of the board for that month?
I truely believe that this might be the way to make the unknown writers and their work more known and attract more people.
With the author of the month-comment, I meant, IF the pannel/person finds the best fanfic, that she asks some questions to the writer, so the readers of this 'fanfic of the month' thread will know a bit more about her too...
I do think a steady group would work better than every month a different group. I think the group does need to have a variety of different personalities, but certainly someone in there who knows what he/she's talking about.

Lol, it's okay. We still love ya

Anyway, so it's

(Most likely) a panel of people who pick an author and/or fan fic each month and they'll have questions - probably writing related - and answers from the author herself and everything?

If you'd like just one person, or a panel, whichever, it's fine. Just let us know and we'll help ya out if it's possible. I think, personally, if you decide to have a panel, you should choose fan-fic writers and readers, but it's up to you.

I'm glad I'm still loved  ... LOL.
Well, I do like LJ's idea of a panel. I just don't have a clue who would be suitable... maybe I should start a thread and ask who would be interested in being in the panel (of not more than 5 people I think). Because I do expect it to be a lot of work. You have to read the story, review it, talk to the author etc etc...
The questions I think of would indeed be writing-related. Concerning the kind of stories they love to read and write, how long they have been writing, how it started etc...
Just wondering though.. Is it possible to make this thread (when we indeed have a fanfic of the month, voted by the panel) to make it sticky? So that people will notice it right away?

PS: thank you for being so open on suggestions like this. That really means a lot to me!! And I'm sure to a lot of other members too!!

GREAT!
So, I'll get that thread on here as soon as I can, asking for panel members and then I'll choose the ones I think are most suitable. Have to figure out some questions they can answer so I can get a full idea of what kind of panel members they'd make.
I'll let you know once I have that thread ready... In the meantime, I'll leave this thread open for reply. THANKS AGAIN.

Well maybe both you and us (the moderators) could work together to choose the panel.  I think it would be good for the mods to help you because we know alot of the members and would be able to help you decide on who would be suitable.

Make sure one of the questions is:  "...and so why do you think you are suitable for the job?  why should we choose you over everyone else?" or something.

sounds like a good idea LJ, I'm allready making a list with questions, yours I've just placed as number 5...
Good thinking.
It won't be long, the list of questions, in fact I think 5 is enough.. I might consider one more... But.. you'll see. And if you guys have anything to add.. let me know.

I've made the thread on the Elijah fanfiction site, will also make the same on the Misc. fanfiction site, as we speak.
Could you make them both sticky? And if you have anything to add, something I forgot, but what is important, please let me know.
THANKS!

Girls, don't you think we should add something to the threads about how many posts you have and how long you've been a member?  Absolutely anyone could apply but i don't think everyone is suitable.  I think the person must have a certain amount of posts (Mods usually agree on 100 but maybe you'd like to lower it to 50 or something?  I still think 100 is better though) and how long you have been a member might be a factor aswell.  Maybe the member should have to have signed up since a certain date eg. October 1st.

I was going to post about this in the application thread but wasn't sure you all agreed so checking with you first.

I personally don't really mind if they have 50 or 100 or even 10 posts on their name. It's just a number to me. If you look at that number to see whether or not someone would stay on long enough and will stay a member (not drop out of the panel in its first month of running), I don't know if you can really tell that from a number.
So I don't mind, whether or not there is a rule in this. I don't even know if there will be enough people responding to becoming a member. What we can do, is just wait and see... and IF indeed there is a large amount, we can always decide then and PM the people that are not suitable.
Allthough I would rather tell them no with another reason then you don't have enough posts. But that's just my opinion.
