The "Old" Elijah Fans Thread -- Part 2
« on: July 15, 2006, 11:28:20 pm »

This feels like New Year's Eve....saying "goodbye" to the old and "hello" to the new.

Remember, the previous thread will still be available for reading, just not for posting.

Who wants to be the first poster to jump start this new thread?

YAY!  Joanie wins the prize for the first post.  And here's your prize....

Your very own Elijah calendar for 2006, thanks to the talented Salogel at LJ.  (I have the rest of it if you want the first seven months.)

GUH!  What a gorgeous prize!  Congrats, Joanie!

I just got home (yes, at 3 in the morning) from the NC Symphony's performance of the LOTR Symphony... and I was most pleasantly impressed!  I've been most fortunate to have heard Howard Shore conduct his symphony 4 times, with 3 different orchestras, and I have to say he would have been totally pleased by my home state's symphonic performance!  Top notch all the way!

It was an outdoor venue, totally sweltering yet totally packed!  I was on the verge of tears two or three times, and by The Grey Havens I had, as always, totally lost it, and sat there through Into the West with tears streaming down my face.  It was a wonderful and very nostalgic event for me.  And, seeing as how I had to drive 2 hours to get home, and some of us met up for a bit of a chat afterward, I indulged in caffeine to insure I would stay awake to drive home... and so of course now I am still wide awake. *sigh*  But at least I got to pop into this lovely new thread and say I hope all the ladies have had half as lovely a day as I have had.

*hugs to you all*

And major thanks to Deenan for this gorgeous banner.  She gifted me with both a Frodo and an Elijah banner, and I plan to switch between those two and my original one on a pretty frequent basis.

AYE! AYE!

out with the old, in with the new!

it'll be sad to see the other thread fade away like frodo into the west, but good times are still ahead.

i got to see the LOTR symphony earlier this year and had the pleasure of howard conducting it. amazingly awesome. if anyone has this playing in their city, you must go!

thanks for supplying us with a most appropriate photo to start off the new thread yeux. i've seen her calendars and i have them. anyone who doesn't should get them.

which reminds me. the august deenan magazine will be up tomorrow.

stay cool everyone.

Hey Deenan.... that's so cool you saw HS conducting. I SO want to see that...... I'm hoping that they come out with the extended version of the music from the TT. I have the Fellowship and listened to it's entirety (sp?) yesterday, coming home , a long journey- from a funeral. It really helped  lift my spirits .... I can only imagine what a HIGH it must have been seeing it in person. Did you get his autograph??

unfortunately i didn't get his autograph. what i really wanted was my picture taken with him, but that didn't happen either. he did give a quick Q&A after the concert and that was interesting. he's been writing music since a little boy! he's like our modern day mozart.

i wrote about that time in my LJ HERE if you're interested. if you ever get that chance to see it, please do!

Yay! A lovely new shiny thread to post in.

I think we need another picture of the reason we all came here, at least in the beginning.

And we all keep coming back, because of the wonderful friendship we've found here.

Deenan and Lith, your LOTR symphony experiences sound wonderful! I wish I could see that.

Hubby and I had a nice time last night, having a belated anniversary celebration. We went out to dinner, and then went to a music store to listen to a band that plays there every Saturday night. My sister is friends with these guys, and she and her husband were there. We had a nice time.

I must go pick up the kids from my Mom's house, and then get groceries.
See ya later.

Welcome back Nettie.

I really don't have much to say tonight. I didn't accomplish much today. I piddled around at Home Depot while my husband picked out 2x4's for his shed (who knew picking out lumber could take so long?) Then I got groceries.
After those pictures of Elijah in Italy came online, I was pretty much good for nothing.

It's weird to see this thread with only one page so far. I'm sure it'll be expanded in no time.

Glad to see you've found the new thread.

Lith, you're so lucky to have attended four performances of the LOTR Symphony with Howard Shore conducting.  Glad you enjoyed the open air performance last night, too.

Lovely pic, Kathleen.  Your belated anniversary celebration sounded like a fun time.  Does the band that plays at the music store ever play anywhere else?  Do they record?

Oh, the August "Deenan Inside" is coming.  YAY!

Welcome back, Nettie.

Still insufferably hot and humid here, but we worked outside all day anyway.  Got a lot done, but I'm pooped.  I hope all of you had a good weekend.

Yeux, the band that we saw usually only plays at the music store. The guys in the band own the store. They have a few CD's and call themselves Radio Dial. They mostly do covers, but are very talented musicians.
I bet your exhausted after working out in the heat all day. My husband only worked outside a few hours today, but it was 98 degrees.

I'm really looking forward to the August "Deenan Inside".

I forgot to mention that our power was out for about an hour and a half tonight. I don't know why, there was no storm or anything. What's really pitiful is that instead of being worried about the contents of our freezer or something like that, I was worried that I would miss new pics of Elijah, and not be able to get online at all.  Luckily the power came back on.
