Well nowsee I have a question about this episode. Now it has been a very long time since I did "serious" Lord of the Rings research but as I recall there weren't nine rings made for the movie. As I recall Peter Jackson had one, Elijah Wood had one, Andy Serkis had one and one was put up for auction. As I say it's been a while since I read about The Lord of the Rings, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I will say one thing, I reached a whole new level of geeky watching this show a little while ago. Sheldon was in bedroom and I noticed a statue of Legolas in the back of the scene. I thought to myself, "That looks very familiar" then I realised I have the same statue in my bedroom.

It's been a while for me too so I can't really tell you about the rings...
So you have the same Legolas statue... that's great!!

OK I've literally just done 5 seconds of research and read this of Elijah Wood
Quote:| Owns one of two prop rings used in "Lord of the Rings." The other went to Andy Serkis, who played Gollum. |

Without consulting my "Making of The Lord of the Rings" book ... I always thought they made upwards of a dozen rings for production purposes...?
If I recall, some were larger than the actual size of a 'usual' ring, in order to get the effect of the One Ring growing and shrinking in size. For ex: the Ring they show falling through the air was approximately the size of an averge bangle/bracelet or even larger... can't quite recall the facts.

But props get destroyed. Think of the Hobbit holes, they were destroyed aside from the one Peter bought.

Yes, props DO get destroyed. At least, they MAY get destroyed... their destruction not being inevitable.
Pardon me if I misunderstood your question (...?) I thought you were confused as to how MANY Rings were made for the movie by WETA workshop?
What I'm saying is... I believe there were quite a number of Rings manufactured initially... and while I've never heard about one being stolen, I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility.
EDIT: Vix - I just looked it up, and there were between 15-30 Rings of different guages and sizes made by mastercraftsman Jens Hansen for the trilogy. Ex: The Ring seen spinning in the Prologue of FoTR had a diameter of 8 INCHES!

I remember reading something about the rings; some actors got one of them after finishing the movies (including Elijah). You are right about it, what I can't remember is how many rings there were...

Pretty cool so far, obviously as with all things certain elements bother me
I've never really understood Leonards attraction to Penny.

In the first season she was cute but irritated me a little. But now she's too skinny and she really annoys me. I know people like Leonard (and grew up with people like Leonard (geeks if you like)), and although I've never been into what they are (no matter how hard I tried), I never spoke to them or treated them like Penny does.

^^^ You got us good Dan.
Vicky: You're welcome.
Anyhow... leaving aside the complexities re: the number and possible location/s of the remaining prop rings for now...
I imagine Leonard's attraction to Penny started off as the stereotypical geek lusts after unattainable princess scenario - wherein the highly intelligent but somewhat dorkish-looking guy (in the eyes of the world in general) battles to win the heart of a woman who even HE perceives to be out of his league.
The reason why the audience may find the trials and tribulations of this seemingly odd pairing endearing and their partnership not TOO far-fetched is because:
a.) At heart, Penny isn't a mean-spirited bitch. She's not perfect either like the archetypal "hooker with a heart of gold", but while she obviously realises she's attractive to men, she's not completely up herself about it.
b.) She may look like a blonde Barbie, but she's a tomboyish farm-girl at heart, and none to bright intellectually. Leonard on the other hand is brainy and seems less inclined towards outdoorsy pursuits, though he is clearly meant to be the alpha-male/leading man/most "well adjusted" to society (out of their little group). Thus their strengths and weaknesses even each other out.
c.) They might be able to related to each other, because Leonard's always had a difficult relationship with his non-demonstative mother while Penny clearly still has unresolved "issues" with her father.
RE: New episodes... I've only seen a couple so far... maybe only one.
I don't know what I think yet. The one I can remember started off a bit "strained" I thought, like the writers were trying too hard, but ended up being pretty funny anyway.
