The departure of Ryan Gosling and arrival of Mark Wahlberg has been mentioned in several magazines I read and on several websites.  All they're saying is the change was due to "creative differences" between the way PJ and Ryan visualized the role.

I see well the actor and director 'have' to see eye to eye when it comes to how they should play the character in the movie after all without the directors influence no one would get paid

This movie is due out end Jan, next year and has already been reviewed as one of the best films of 2010. Mark Whalberg's part is surprisingly one of the best. Even though PJ has altered the book radically, doesn't affect the film apparently. Can't wait to see this!

It opens in the US in December...the 20th, I think, but I'm not certain that's the exact date.  I loved the book and even if PJ has made changes, I trust him and am sure the movie will be great.  The trailer is very good.  I'm looking forward to the movie.

Phooey!  I just checked IMDb.com and it shows the release date as 15 January 2010 for the US now.  I wonder why they moved it.  Maybe too many other films are opening in December.  It's a popular month for new releases here.

Not at IMDb.com.  It only gives US release dates for movies.

I don't know what to think now.  IMDb said yesterday when I checked that the US release date was 15 January, but I saw an ad on TV for the movie today and it said 11 December.  I'm sure the TV ad is correct because there has already been some Oscar buzz about the film and it would have to be shown by the end of this year to be eligible for the next Academy Awards.

The movie is getting conflicting reviews some good but a lot bad ones. I do still wish to see it so I can make my own mind up. What are other people planning to do?

Hm...I've seen the ads, and it looks quite light and dream-like in places.  But...well, seeing as I didn't really like the book much, I don't think I will go and see it, Elizabeth.  Are you going?

When are you going to see this?  I don't know anyone here in the US who has seen it yet.

Just got back from seeing this and thought it was really good worth four stars. My advice don't take note of all crap reviews going round, go make up your own mind.
