HAir darkens with age, everyone know that. There also happens to be a lovely thing called hair-dye.
But why is this so important? It's bleedin' HAIR!!!

I know this doesn't explain everything, but I feel the need to point out that in LOTR, that is not his natural hair. Elijah (and everyone else for that matter) wears a wig in that movie, so it's not fair to compare his hair color in that movie to the others. Also, although I of course don't know this, but it's possible that he wore a wig in some of his other movies as well. Just wanted to point that out.

I like imdb its a place to express an opinion lol although he is ugly threads are getting tedious now.

just look at the boys head right now it is a medium brown the hair that is growing in is "virgin hair" it has not been dyed, lightened or exposed to anything!!!

He doesn't look quite right with his hair jet-black, IMO, he's a little pale anyway and having black hair makes him look paler. It looks good just natural, which it seems to be at the moment.

I actually really like it when he has dyed his hair jet black, I love that it makes his skin look even more pale.

Thank You, and yes it does! 
BTW I think that his hair is like a chocolate kind of brown rather than dark brown! (I don't call it dark brown, because like my hair, his hair is like a cinnamon color in the sun.) And yes, there is a difference between dark and chocolate brown, but I agree that it is a very slight difference!

Unconditional obsession..I like that..lol, thats me too guys...and I concur with the above as well as the chonology of hair morphing...the lightest I recall was in Flipper when he gets a bit sunbleached....teh dark*** brown is my least favorite but I got used to it. I do however love his natural medium brown with natural highlights. Also love the color of the Frodo wig on his complexion but that also required some brow and lash darkening to match...
Bottom line with unconditional obsession..who cares..sigh
