On a search to complete our Terry Pratchett's Discworld collection, my Dad came accross this guy in a second hand bookshop, where his books were reccomended to him (looking back, my Dad swears it was Fforde who had done the reccomending to him, lol) but anyway, he picked up "The Eyre Affair". He read it, and loved it, and I am now half way through it, and really enjoying it. Has anyone else read "The Eyre Affair", or any other Jasper Fforde books? Any thoughts? Please, share.

I've read The Eyre Affair. A friend recommended Jasper Fforde to me. It was so different! I liked the concept that one could journey into a book.

(all right! a pterry fan! outside of a author signing, I've only met one other fan of Diacworld 'in real life' ... I havn't been to the forum in a while, but on second thught I think i've talked to you before a bit in the Terry Pratchett thread )
I've read the whole Thursday Next series (thanks to a recomendation by my fave english prof)
I really enjoied them.
the first book, for whatever reason, kind of lost me half way through. (I think I was slightly baffeled that it was a futureistic 1980's setting), so I put it down for a coupple of months and then came back to it. Everything clicked that time.
I've found that trying to describe the later booksin the series makes it sound like I'm on some sort of hallucnagenic trip.
"Lost in A Good Book" opened new doors for me when thinking about characters in Liturature. and Fforde has one of the best uses of Metafiction I've seen used ever in "Somthing Rotten"
I havn't read his new Jack Sprat series yet. but the character is introduced in "Well of Lost Plots."

Really? Wow! That suprises me! I know so many people who read Terry Pratchett and love his work. In fact... I don't know anyone who reads to have not read something by him...
Anyway... lol
I've still not finished The Eyre Affair, lol. Life has been hectic, I have no time for books, it makes me sad But Summer is coming, and so it will be finished shortly That's hoping I remember everything that was happening, and I don't have to pick it up from the beginning again...
I was in a book shop today, and saw a load of other Fforde books... had to stop myself from buying... I should finish this one first. lol

I'm in the middle of the next Next book Lost in a Good Book. It's exciting! Sadly, I had to pause my reading because it was due at the library and I have a few big papers to write. But I will definitely return to it when I have time.

As a custom title for me, useful I would like it to be. Something descriptive, about me I give: I am "The Limerick Lady."

I just found this thread and I read all 5 Thursday Next books in the spring/summer and enjoyed them quite a lot. Very clever and funny and quick to read.
