Alrighty! I'm back... I guess. I was not much around since summer for various reasons. Generally not very nice things in almost every aspect of my life.
First my father got diagnosed with cancer and later had a car crash while recovering from radiotherapy. Then I overstrained my wrists while moving and the pain did not go away for two months. And if that wasn't enough my skin gradually became so bad I did not want to leave the house anymore. Enough to make me disappear in my paperbag already. 
My job situation was troubling me as well. With several low-paid short-term underinsured jobs I'm constantly looking for something new. I got turned down in the end for two positions my heart was set on to, not to mention a lot of effort as well. That still hurts a little.
And at the end of this fabulous 2006 I had to say good-by to a dear friend. She finally died from cancer on Christmas Eve. 
I hope you've had a better time here on the board while I was away. I'm looking forward to meeting some familiar and some new faces again and spend some time in the fun sections of the board.
Sorry for the lenghty "Back" post. I just had to get it off my chest.

I am Scroll and fairly new here. Nice to meet you. I am so sorry for you father. I lost my daddy 4 years ago due to cancer also and 2 weeks later my mom died of kidney failure due to an infection in her blood stream.
I am also sorry about your wrists. I have a problem with my arms and hands that will only get worse and they give me all sorts of problems (I can tell you later if you want).
I am also sorry about your friend. I just found out that a very long friend of mine has cancer too. Everyone I have ever loved has died with cancer in the last 5 years. 12 and half years ago my daddy's oldest sister died with cancer. Then 5 years ago my daddy's mom died a year later my daddy's youngest sister died with cancer, 3 months later my daddy, 2 weeks later my mom, a month later my cousin's wife died of heart failure during surgery, a month after that my mom's brother died with cancer, a year ago my hubby's aunt died with cancer, also at that time a life long friend of my hubby and his family died, and just this summer another of my daddy's sister died with cancer.
So don't feel to bad and if you ever need someone to talk to sweetie I am here along with everyone else. Welcome back too.
Just remember what I always say to myself:
When you think you are down to nothing
just remember God is always up to something.
I think that is how it goes.
So welcome back and things will be better about the job thing I lost my job before Thanksgiving so don't feel alone ok. I am here and so is everyone else. Welcome back and sorry I sounded as if I am bragging or something. I wasn't I was just letting you know you are not alone. Sorry it is to long too.

Andrea, itīs good to have you back, I guess it means that somehow you are feeling better after all those terrible moments youīve lived in 2006.
This new year will be for sure nicer to you; you deserve it.
I hope things are starting to get better.
I love that you are here again. You know how much I have always appreciated your comments.
My best wishes for you.

In them times we all just have to remember that we are all not alone that there are others out in the world somewhere that know what we each are going through and there others we can talk to.

Scroll, nice meeting you too. I am so sorry you have lost so many dear family members to cancer in such a short time. I hope you get a good treatment for your arm condition and keep my fingers crossed for your friend to get well. Thanks for your kind words. 
You know what I always say in such situations? "It's going to be okay soon or later. It's terrible now but I'm always going to be okay again." Up to now it has always proven true. I know a lot of stories where seemingly bad things turned out good in the end. Like a friend of mine, she got turned down for a job and therefore did not take the very Concorde flight which crashed. So maybe you're right, Scroll, and last year just was up to something else for me.
Looking back I guess it could have been worse, but my granny is still alive and kicking and my mother hasn't had a psychotic episode in two and half years. That's a new record!

I'm going to New York tomorrow morning. Setting off from uni at about 6am. Erk.
Lucky we're going actually. We would have been flying BA. Which would have meant that our flight would have been cancelled due to recent strikes. We managed to change who we're flying with though, so all should be good.
I return on Sunday.

I am back from a one-week trip to France. Itīs been great... and cold. I really had a good time there!
And itīs nice to be back.
