Have y'all heard 'Brianstorm' and 'Flourescent Adolescent', the singles off their new album? Have they ever recorded a song that wasn't witty?

I like the Arctic Monkey's, the first album is excellent. The songs that I've heard from the new album haven't grabbed me yet though.

I am not an expert but I'd say Oasis are probably a big influence. I read a review which said The Clash and The Smiths were influences. I love both those bands and I like the Arctic Monkeys so I guess that makes sense.

I'm a huge Oasis fan and I think it's fair to say there are a few similarities between them and the Monkeys, and with the Clash too, but they're really quite an incomparable band today, there isn't anyone 'big' on the music scene quite like them!!

i still prefer the first album.
anyway, a certain kind of romance is one of those musics that put me in a really good mood all giggly and stuffs and it's a fact that I bet that you lok good on the dance floor, does really get you to hit the dance floor! I saw them live some months ago, and those guys sure have it!!!
on a slightly pointless note: british music rocks my world (the whole world acually)

Really!!! That changes your perspective a bit, doesn't it? Great song though. I've started relistening to Whatever People Say I Am....and Dancing Shoes is really stuck in my head.

Anyone here still a fan? I can't wait for the new album 'Humbug', which will be out in just a few weeks - going on the new single Crying Lightning, it's going to brilliant.

Sorry to double post (this feels like a one-woman thread, but never mind), but I'm just listening to the new album 'Humbug' and the verdict is - 'Amazing'! I really think it might possibly be the best album by the Arctic Monkeys so far...everything flows brilliantly. Give it a listen, everyone.

I've always loved every song they released and now again, Crying Lightning is amazing as well. I never listened to their albums though, I really think I should.

Good question - I couldn't pick just one! From 'Whatever You Say I am....' I like 'Dancing Shoes' and 'When The Sun Goes Down', and from 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' I love 'Fluorescent Adolescent', 'Teddy Picker' and 'Balaclava'. I haven't really got a favourite off the new album yet, though 'My Propeller' and 'Cornerstone' are instant stand-outs.
