Elijah,

I met you a couple of years ago in Sydney for the Supanova Comic Con. It was a magical time for me and my friends because we thought we would never have the chance to meet you. I basically grew up with you through your movies and television shows, and there you were, very sick but sticking it out for your fans. I thought to myself that if I were sick, I would be at home in bed nursing myself back to health. You have dedication that surpasses mortal beings. At least surpasses my common human abilities. I would just like to take a moment and thank you for all that you've given us and sending wishes that your special birthday will be one for the books!

Living to the Fullest

Today is yet another milestone for you, Mr. Elijah Wood. Today you turn 40 years old and we're officially now living in a world where that has happened. For anyone 30 or older, this seems impossible. Where has the time gone so fast? One minute your voice is breaking and before you know it, gray hairs are cresting from parts of your body. But I see, Elijah, that you are accepting middle age with dignity. Like myself, you honor your age and relish in life experiences.

When I turned 40 some blah, blah years ago, I celebrated in grand style by taking a trip alone, meeting new people and experiencing a new culture. For me, that's something I didn't do often, but you, Elijah, do it practically every day. Celebrate your day by trying to do something you've always wanted to do. If it's not accomplished on this day, plan to do it within the year. Teach a class, have a showing of your photographs or skydive from a perfectly good working airplane. You've done many things that's personally rewarding, but take that extra step and go for it.

I hope this birthday is blessed by being with your family and friends, though, with the way things are in 2021, that will be harder to carry out. However, living in the 21st century and the advances in technology, being in the company of loved ones is not impossible.

Will things look differently to you tomorrow? Mostly likely not. It will be another day to set out and do amazing things, even if that means advancing to the next level on the video game of your choice.

Time Capsule

40 years ago we had no knowledge of a little boy pushing his way into the world. We were witness to events like Ronald Reagan being sworn in as President of the U.S., the first Space Shuttle, Columbia, launching into the atmosphere, Sandra Day O'Connor becoming the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, MTV airing for the first time on cable TV and Simon and Garfunkel performing live in Central Park. You are among some of the greatest events of 1981!

If I could put your characteristics in a time capsule for future generations to see, I'd first put in your talent. Then layer on your humility, followed by your graciousness. To add a little spice, I'd sprinkle in some of your quirkiness. On top, so it's the first thing to be seen, is your kindness.
