they are so scary what was the force of yours here was 7.1 the same as the one in Haiti I was so surprised when heard only one person died of heart attack considering the severity of the quake and the extensive damage to the buildings..

7.1!?
I'm glad that you're not hurt, Elizabeth. You or Mark. *hugs again*
Last week in my Geography class, we were getting ready for a test and we discussed tectonic plates and the map locations... not a pretty site. Lots of'em.
Earthquakes are part of nature, but have records of deep deals of trouble...

I had one here, but it was mostly felt in Toronto back in June of this year.
I was doing my math exam, and I thought it was the guy behind me kicking me. When it happened again, everyone felt it. But again, it wasn't felt much everywhere I lived. My school is not 5 minutes from my grandmother's house and she didn't feel anything

I don't recall the scale but it was quite high. It was actually the worst quake we've had in 25 years. We got them every few years or so. I believe some poor people did die from trees collapsing on them.

I haven't been in one yet and I sure hope not to... but I'm sure it'll happen someday.

We've had many earthquakes in the area where I live, but as far as I can remember non of them were higher than 6.

Quote from: miss sixty on September 08, 2010, 03:47:58 pm Well... I have never felt scared although it is not a very joyful experience... You really don't get used to them. I have a friend from Peru and there they have one almost every day...

Will be interesting to see how I react with earthquakes in the future esp if planning on eventually living here in nz - will I get used to them and not be scared anymore or will I always get scared - who knows
