So, maybe some of you have heard the news by now, maybe some of you haven't. I'll tell you what has happened.
So yesterday, Thursday 30th, we celebrated our annual Queen's Day over here in Holland. It's when we celebrate the birthday of our former queen Juliana and now the royal family just drives around in a town or a city and the people over there perform little plays that have to do with that town or city. It's always really nice and it's really a day of celebration and it's all about having fun and partying (and for some: getting wasted lol)
Anyways, yesterday something tragic happened. Some idiotic man, Karst Tates, 38 year old, drove through the crowd, injuring a lot of people and killing now 7 or 8 people, including himself. He was a couple of seconds late, or he would have hit the bus with the royal family in it. Right before he became unconcious, he confessed to the policemen, that it was a serious attempt and that it was not an accident. He did intend to hurt either the crowd or the royal family.
As I said, a lot of people have died, the crash was on television and everybody could see it. Including children. He's killed a child and a pregnant woman. Of course, all death is awful, but children and pregnant women... Gosh, it's just hiddious and horrific. I would have never thought something like this would happen. Everything was live on television so EVERYBODY could see people flying through the air and people suffering and eventually dying. It's just shameless.
As for now, there is no motive behind this horrifying event. Police is still trying to find out what has happened, but because Karst died, they cannot question him anymore and questions are still unanswered and not very likely to be ever answered. Please pray for those who have died and for those who were left behind, without a brother, sister, mother, father, child, uncle, aunt, son, daughter, cousin and friend.
Our national festivities did continue, but we did sober things up, just out of respect for those who got injured and died.

This news is tragic and awful - it's almost impossible to believe someone could be so selfish as to try and kill others. And the deaths of a child and a pregnant women just add to the horrificness of it all. Sending my thoughts and prayers to the victims.

Yeah and the most unbelievable thing is that is was NOT an accident, it was all on purpose. There is no reason why, for we know now. I can't even possibly THINK of a reason why he would attack our Queen/royal family or what kind of statement he would want to make by doing this...

Thats very terrible.I am sorry for these poor people.I am sure,their relatives are very bad and upset now ...

What a horrific accident Sky, I'm so sorry to hear of it.  . The photo's really speak volumes about just how much damage that guy caused.
Certainly prayers for those people and their loved ones will go out.

omg, thats so incredibly sad. omg, thats more than horrible.  why would a person do such a thing? these are just things i don't understand...  this is so bad, thats so, so sad.  i'm praying.

After some research from the police, they have found a potential reason.
The police talked to a friend of Tates' and he told them that Tates has just been fired from a security company and lost his money, house and job because of that. He was furious and wanted revenge. He wanted to prove that the security at the festivities weren't good enough and that shoul be, according to that friend, be the reason of what he has done.

O wow! I just saw this, Pam. How awful and sad! Gosh, I just don't understand why people who are so upset and angry have to take revenge on innocent people. Suicide is bad, but this increasing trend of taking others with you is very scary.
You are assured of my prayers....even if they are a bit late.
